Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

To play devil's advocate as I said above. Do you not just think thats cos we dont play like NEC at the back
The most important stat for keepers which isn’t impacted by playstyle is xGoT prevented. This says how good the shots were against them and how many they saved

Last season alone

Roefs had +6.7

Patto had -2.1

So patto let in 2.1 goals more than he should and roefs saved 6.7 more than he should

That’s an 8.8 goal swing

Thing is Patto hasn't even been consistent over those 3 years.

He tends to have 1 outstanding game every few months and it masks all the errors in the games before it.

He is shit at crosses and can't kick a ball to save his life.

Granted he's a very good shot stopper, but there is more to being in goal than that.

He's not a premiership keeper
Harsh.

IMO if he had a Keifer Moore type to lump the ball up to his kicking wouldn't be seen as a big issue. Instead he's trying to kick it 50 yards to a winger / full back out wide which is a lot harder skill. He should just aim a bit more infield and if it drifts a bit it won't go off the pitch.

His first touch is excellent as is the vast majority of his short range passing.
I hope this lad absolutely smashed it and becomes as loved as Sorenson was here but I can’t help feeling that of all the signings the club has made this summer he represents the biggest gamble.

If he’s going to be our number one it’s a big ask for a 22 year old to come into a premier league side expected to be fighting relegation when his relevant senior football experience amounts to one season in Holland.
If you're good enough you're old enough. The kid looks a star.

It was easily the best save of his career.

I can't recall any other top class saves he's made in truth?
It was easily the best save of most goalkeepers careers. It was an all time great save.

Unlike most players on the SMB, Patterson appears to be getting worse the less he plays. Some of the comments over pre-season (not necessarily by you) have been ludicrous in their harshness imo.

He can't play a ball 30 yards out wide without over hitting it straight out for a throw in. He does it 3 or 4 times every match. It's not a difficult skill, I could do it and I'm not a professional footballer.

His kicking is dog shit.

I wouldn’t say it’s dogshit but it is an aspect he’s struggled with since he made it to the team. The concerning thing is it doesn’t seem much better than earlier in his career. I know keepers need to train at other things but it has been one of his main weaknesses and it doesn’t seem to have evolved much. I hope he stays though and fights for his place in the side.

Rubbish.

He does it occasionally, maybe every other match but all keepers do. He's lifting it over a player too.

Our 2 strikers can't win a header. That's the main issue.

Agreed about the lack of aerial ability up front. Guiu looks to be able to head the ball but is raw. Let’s hope he is the bullying CF we need to vary our attacking threat.

If he's hung a flag upside down, does that not mean he's nicked it and is dead hard?
Absolutely this ⬆️
The needy f***ers on here are hilarious.
“Why hasn’t it been announced?”
“What is going wrong with this deal?”

So much pearl clutching….it’s pitiful.

Getting all upset about a post on a forum and calling people pitiful is pitiful imo there.

He's class is Patto, made three top class saves in two Wembley outings and is very consistent.

Has he signed yet? We’ve got to be one the slowest teams when it comes to announcing players. The photos were leaked yesterday morning ffs.

I have spoken to a few people who are not sure about the keeper citing the fact that he doesn’t seem to have a lot of experience while others, having seen some footage on YouTube, weren't that impressed, however what do we know 😁

Will have to see - seems he’s quite highly rated though the Dutch league isn’t exactly top level is it? Jozy Altidore springs to mind 😁

actually, it's nigh on every single game, I have a running joke with my dad at the match about it, it's mental haha
