Calling SMB veg growers

Any advice from the SMB regarding a good fruit feed?

I have went for this one for ease as it says pears, peaches and blueberries (I'm dubious one can do all three given the differing ph requirements of them all but maybe it's more about the nutrients?). But the is the majority of my fruit for this year.

I'm aware it seems expensive for how much you get regardless of the concentration.

I got a nice deal on some shogun bloom from my pal in the local hydro shop, it’s quite expensive tbh but I don’t use much and thought I’d treat myself, I’m hoping he might go a deal on the canna bloom as that’s one of the most expensive you can get. I’ve only just started using it so can’t say how my toms like it but people use it for weed so must be at least half decent

Lifted some of my garlic earlier to make a bit space, looks like they’ve not split into cloves. Strange as they were planted well before any frosts last year.
Any recommendations for decent quality dumpy bags of compost?
 
Lifted some Charlotte's for our tea, canny crop this year.
Strawberries have been disappointing so far.
Chillies seem to be doing nowt.
Tomato plants are growing but no sign of any tomatoes

I’ve had to lift all the spinach a bit was gonna go to seed, think I planted a bit to much, again….


We sorted out about 10lb of different types of new potatoes Into bags and the boy went around the close near us that’s full of pensioners and sorted a few out. Had a few visits since thanking us and sorting the boy some dairy milk so he’s happy!, it feels nice to do good deeds now and then, good life lessons for the boy as well, my dad used to do similar when I was a bairn.

Class that with the older people, if only all parents taught kids things like that, as you mention you learn from your parents, me mother used to say "it doesn't cost you nowt" (Good deeds).

I tend to give most of what I grow away, I used to take lettuce to the food bank but then some wanker started questioning how I grew it and was being an arse so I thought why bother, now I just dish it out to the oldies and my marras at the barbers, they are very appreciative, and as your old mother says, it costs you nowt.
I was a little shit as a kid and I imagine I caused a fair bit of misery to folk,I’m trying to teach mine to be a better, decent chap,

I only tried cucumbers a few times and gave up as they were terrible. The variety I recall was telegraph. Which one do you grow?

This years were Telegraph F1. I think they like to be left alone tbh, I usually de leaf quite aggressively but because I had a poor crop last year I decided to go easy on them
This year and the difference has been like night and day. We’ve also had unbelievable weather down here in Norfolk which will have obviously helped a lot.

I'm away on holiday and have a number of family with no gardening experience tending to the watering in and out of the greenhouse.

I'm expecting the worst.
 
No pictures but our strawberry patch gave a bumper crop this year. Was quite nice as it is usually the neighbour that gets the best of them as we are typically away when they ripen. With the great weather they’ve been bigger and earlier ripening than ever. Managed to eat a load and still have enough for 12lbs of jam.
 
Loads of strawberries, but wish they had a 2nd flush as they're done by the first week in July. Need to get a different variety to Cambridge I think.

Did a few peas - nowhere near enough - they're coming in ok.
Lettuce is growing
And those late toms I put in are doing ok actually, got quite a few on them, just need to ripen hopefully.
Raspberries are once again utterly covered in caterpillars though, leaves are decimated.

I’m away to Sweden for a few weeks end of August so I should be ok, we were gonna go earlier and I was the same with the thoughts of grandpa doing the watering, some days he can’t even connect the hosepipe :lol:

Everything had either just started fruiting or was about to and we all know what the following are like on e they start:

  • Chillis
  • Peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Gherkins
  • Cucumbers
  • Lillies and orchids
