Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

We can get him in Jan to cover when half the midfield nash off to the AFCON.

If he wants to get in the world cup squad he'd want to be starting the majority of games. Not sure he'd get that guarantee here.
Perhaps his style of play doesn't suit how we're going to be set up next season.

Tbf he’s not seemed settled since he left Liverpool, probably should’ve swallowed his pride and stayed there as a squad player. There was talk of Monaco back in January so he might still end up there.

Prem winning liverpool captain
Champions league winning captain
England international (still)
Ajax captain
Becomes available on a free and we are looking for a sprinkle of experience in our young squad, we would be crazy not to have a conversation with that player!

Oh and he is a Sunderland Lad, who developed through the academy and has played for us and loves the club!

Honestly anyone that can’t see that a move for Henderson could be good for the club as a whole are maybe kidding themselves. We can argue all day about what capacity he plays at or how much he is involved but you can’t deny he would be a sensible addition.

There's no way we've spent as much money as we have on our three CM signings this window if we intend to let a 35 year old Jordan Henderson waltz into the starting XI ahead of one of them. If he was to come he would be one of those "squad" players you've mentioned, and I sincerely doubt he'd be up for that.
100% this, he would be a squad player competing for minutes, he’s been a starter his whole career, so he’s not coming to Sunderland to do that.

I actually think Porto with his old Ajax manager would be a good move for him.

Yesterday i thought, ok well maybe . Then i watched the world club cup and saw what energy does for a team . I think we'll go all energy judging by signings so far and Jordan would just hold us up . A steady hand if We're panicking ? Lets just not panic then

mentions how they have mobility and how we’re building on what we already have not changing it

exactly why JH does not fit

There’s certainly plus signs for his off the field contribution but not on it. IMO anyway

Not according to the people at the club who's job it is know these things

I’d be interested to know if he’d never played for us and wasn’t a Sunderland fan how many would want to sign this specific midfielder at this point in his career
A player that’s won it all captained it all and has a wealth of experience, regardless of where he’s from we should be looking at him imo.

After speaking to someone who knows a lot more about our club than I do I have it on good authority we aren’t interested however he is very interested. That isn’t what I wanted to hear. I really would like him to sign but it is highly unlikely now.

Tell me another Premier League and Champions League winning captain, who played for a European side last year, we could get on a free and I’d want to sign them at that point in their career to.

This point in his career is literally perfect for our squad.
