I'm considering any thread with 10+ pages with no Romano involvement as a sign it's not happening. (will still keep checking though...)

Id have way more confidence in this if it came from Phil Smith.

Copleys job at the echo is to churn out a certain amount of articles everyday to generate clicks. So he will often just report on other articles or anything slightly sunderland related. He does not get the same level of info from the club as Phil does.

But having said that, not sure he would be allowed to post “a deal is understood to be close” unless there has been a change from Phils update yesterday
Journalism is dead.

You have to spend as much but the way its handled in the accounts mean we are better off doing it. For example if we sold Neil for £10mill as he's home grown that counts as £10mill profit and hits the accounts as such straight away. If we sign someone for £20mill to replace him then only a portion of the debt will hit the accounts for this daft PSR stuff. This if course could be total shite but that's the way I've read it and its why other premier league sides are prepared to sell their home grown players even if they are their better players.
Sign someone for 1 mill sell for 11 mill surely that is 10 mill profit? What is the difference?

When you sign someone you compare the sale amount vs the book value of the player.
If the £1m signing was signed on a 4 year deal but sold after 2 years, he's only worth £500k on the books at date of sale. So for PSR purposes it's £10.5m profit i think

I don't think there is really. You offset the income from the decrease/increase in the player value.

PL clubs liked doing their dodgy transfers with home grown players, as there was no offset and they could count the full value.

...but surely the remaining £500k would come off future accounts through amortisation.

For accounting purposes it would be cleared at disposal presumably. But for PSR i don't think it's relevant. Not 100% sure though

..but it wouldn't count as £10.5m profit, as the change in value of the asset was only £10m.

Who knows when the £500k would come off though 🤣
