Now they're real reasons to be "in the moment". Maybe one day as a Sunderland fan you'll experience it.

Their fans will believe that. Not you. That's my point. Every fan believes it's different for them, as they experience the highs and lows.
Every club has a story that is unique and makes their fan base think it's special and different for that club.
The neutral wax lyrical every year for one reason or another. Could be former PL champions Leicester next year winning the play off final and their fans will walk out thinking how unique and special they are.

What’s their uplifting chant they have referenced on Cup final commentary by Brian Moore ?
What end of their ground is known for its Roar ?
Do they have a moment in football history like the Montgomery save ?
I can’t even remember who they beat when they won their Cup.
It’s not a football city. They had a one off little period. And clackers and crisps.

Who Leicester? Won the PL after nearly going down Leicester? Arguably the biggest underdog story in the history of English football? With a guy who they bought from non league up front? Or when they won the FA Cup? Or the 2 league cup wins in the 90s?
Anyway, you are missing my point - every club will think it is special. If it's Portsmouth singing play up pompey whist reminiscing about their FA Cup win in the 2000s or Stoke City singing Delilah whilst thinking nobody likes to play us on a Tuesday night.
Each clubs fan base think they are unique you are no different.

This is the best post on here. When people from other parts of the country think of Sunderland they think of football.
I dont know what they think of about Boro, probably heavy industry…but the first thing in their mind won’t be Middlesbrough football club. Sunderland and football are entwined, more so than Newcastle even. The only other city in this country which is the same is Liverpool.

Pity the mutants couldn't get on board and actually attend the games. Poor Gibson saved them from dying, bought them Juninho and Co, won them a cup in Wales vs Bolton, first cup since they were formed which was before Sunderland. Built them the greatest squad in their history that got to a uefa final and they barely attend the games.
But decided to sell out the semi final, great supporters. Greatest ever Boro team, uefa cup and couldn't be arsed previous games.
