Jobe Bellingham - post SAFC compendium

Yeah I've explained why I think it doesn't.
He doesn’t need to get flogged for 40+ games a season to develop. If he stays he’s going to (in my option) get ran ragged by some of the best centre midfielders in the world.

Like if or not, he’s going to get compared to his brother and be written off at the earliest opportunity.

Or…. he goes to Germany away from the spotlight and develops in one of the best teams in the league who will be pushing for titles, cups and champions league spots.

From his perspective, I know what I’d choose.

To be fair I’ve said it on other threads, I think for his career and in his situation, a season or two in the German league would be good for him.

In the prem everything’s intensified and people will be queuing up to knock him down a peg or two.

A year or two to develop away from the spotlight and pressure of a newly promoted team wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for him.

*I still want him to stay. But I don’t think he will.
Yeah I get the logic. Not sure I agree though. Think they're seeking the easiest career path that maximises his earnings.

But sometimes being tested in a bit of adversity is what will make a player.

And he's moving to a bigger club in the best supported country in world football, so not sure your comment about developing away from the spotlight stacks up. In fact with a decent fee involved I think the opposite applies.

Jobes a good lad, looks after his own interests and trusts his advisers, absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Never went near the station when we were over in the summer for the euros, all my mates came through that way… 😂😂😂 reckon it’s like the walking dead down there, seen things they couldn’t believe, the side of the city we stayed in and seen was pretty nice to be fair
It really was like the walking dead. 😂Smackheads and prostitutes all over the place. Not sure I'd seen it in germany before.

This. Said ages ago that when he leaves it will be on favourable terms for Jobe, the Bellingham brand and not Sunderland AFC unfortunately.

Know what you mean but i guess a 7- 8 times profit on what we paid for him because he signed a contract and didn’t run it down is still not bad business

He's earned the right to choose after a cracking season, but I don't really understand it from his perspective.

He has loads of potential but still needs to find consistency week-in, week-out. He'd be a guaranteed starter in the PL for us. Will he be afforded the same patience somewhere else, especially if Champions League football is up for grabs? Doubtful really.
I think the notion of his parents not wanting him or Jude playing in the PL seems to be about right

If I was English with aspirations of playing in the Premier League or La Liga, I think Bundesliga is a great move. Jude was largely under the radar until he made a name for himself at Dortmund and warranted the “hype”.

I honestly thing earnings will be their lowest priority. His mam and dad as agents will have made tens of millions off Jude already. If money was the driving factor he’d have gone when he had offers on the table in January IMO

It worries me that we will quite easily let one of our better players go and not try and keep him after sealing premier league football for next season. Seems to love It here as well, Just looks like he's bottling It a bit by going to an easier league In my opinion although I know the team he will be going to will be playing champions league football so can't begrudge him that

It’s an interesting thought you have there. It is undoubtedly harder to make it in Premiership. The teams are more equal but for maybe the top two and bottom 3, it is not as physically demanding and you can manage the narrative easier.
Two years at a top club there will make him 21 and better able to step up to a top club in premier league, especially if he’s played in Europe

With the Jobe money (if he does go) we’d have enough money to buy a premier league quality player to replace him.

As well as a massive sell on fee if he does go for silly money further down the line.

It’s all part of the plan for him. He was never going to be here long term.

As with his brother his career is mapped out. Release clause in his contract. Percentage goes to Brum and we’ll have a big sell on when he goes.

Nowt to do with bottling something. We always were a stepping stone.

I dont disagree that the bundesliga is a good league for him. But I'm not convinced he will be a regular starter for frankfurt next season. Could be massively wrong there mind.

Genuinely think a year with us in the PL would be better for him being a pivotal fugure in our side. I am, of course, biased saying that.

As for last para there's just something about it all that feels too manufactured. This probably makes little sense, but I think if you ask jobe now without parental interference where do you want to play next season I honestly think he says us. If frankfurt works for him then all good, if it doesn't then it'll be interesting to see how his career pans out after that.

I agree he won’t start every game, but like I’ve said on another thread, at his age you don’t need to be flogged for 40+ games a season to develop.

I also agree he’d probably be better off staying, but that doesn’t mean it’s right for his long term career….. Playing a pivotal role in a team getting humped* every week is probably the thing they’re trying to protect him from, IMO.

*hopefully not. But it’s more than likely

I'd like to argue against that last bit.. 😬😂

40m and use that money to bring in some proven quality, good luck to the lad. I think Henderson would be a great shout.

On the top point, whether or not it's right, it's absolutely obvious that Jobe and family want him playing the maximum amount of minutes possible. I can't see why that would change as he gets older.

As for scrutiny - he's moving for £30m and following exactly in his brother's footsteps. Scrutiny is coming. The German football media are brutal enough themselves. And he's going to be under more pressure internally than he is here. At a club where he's brand new and in a country he's never lived in.

I hope it works out for him, but it's risky.

I think you're right, but it's a shame. The family have been experts at managing their sons' careers, but there's a lot to be said for being in the right environment, especially for someone like Jobe. There's a higher risk of his career being knocked off course by the wrong move than Jude, who was obviously going to the top.
