Forthcoming gigs.

Stockton Calling this Saturday, always a highlight of the year
Gutted Storytellers pub has closed tho - great pub and great venue
Anyone on here going?
Another great day, unbelievable value £40 for the day,
early start and saw The North at 2pm, raw but decent indie band, lead singer yorkshires version of Liam Gallagher
Then caught a bit of my daughters mates band The Wednesday Flowers, jangly and fun, not great but not bad,
Erm saw about 2 mins of Dinky Bossetti, perhaps I should have researched this one - def not for me, quite a shock when the lights went up:eek:,
Quality def jumped up a notch at Ku, Marketplace were brilliant as were Sunbeam - lead singer proper got crowd going, great fun,
M60 were up next, highly rated and you could tell they could be a big upcoming band, big noise great swirly guitars, but lacked something for me,
Was very upset not to see Zela and her amazing thighs as is Stockton Calling tradition for us (not the band name but should be!), as the daughter needing feeding!
Next up back to Ku, and Arkayla, again a notch above, really can tell as the day goes on the bands get better and tighter, really enjoyed these,
Then off to Arc, caught the end of Spitfires, mod type band, again not really my thing but was fun to watch still,
Bromheads Jacket up next to reminisce from prob 20 years ago, that infamous gig at Manor Quay! I thought these were great proper noisy and loud and drummer was brilliant to watch,
Pleased we got in early, as Maximo Park had the place full. What to say, Paul Smith is such a good frontman, a 90 min set, played a good mix of old and new (no Graffitti tho!) Place was absolutely bouncing for the ending on Apply Some Pressure!
Really wanted to further reminisce from my youth and see The Paddingtons who were playing on a late gig, but the legs had given out by this point

Hats off I love Stockton music scene, some great great venues - arise Sir Jimmy Beck! The man is a legend, love having this on my doorstep.

Aye, great. Personally I’d like to hear more if the Xtrmntr stuff, but they weren’t touring that album.
Some of the new stuff sounded ok but everyone's there for the old stuff..canny few empty seats up top like..about the same crowd SLF had in..still a good night though.

I was there. What happened again? I just remember being pissed & hanging around ages for them coming on stage.

I was standing, but noticed the seats empty up the top so went & stood there instead. I must be getting old

Aye they put a mini statement thing on instagram about recent cancelled shows and how people waiting till last minute for tickets is an issue.
I know the lads well and there aren't any plans to pull the gig currently - it's the last one at whq and they want it to be a good one.

I asked about the post though and on some recent dates they have done over 50% of the tickets in the 24 hrs before the gig. Even when they have been putting most of the nights on for £10 entry and fully expecting to make a loss when you factor in how much they are paying for the club + DJs etc.

Some of the bookings have been class and know they're looking at plans for a new venue for later in the year to carry it on.

Just booked for the Stockton indie showcase in June with Pastel headlining - first heard about them through this thread and be good to hear some new bands playing that day too.

I'll also be at Dax J at WHQ - different vibe to the indie gig

Dunno how old you are Longy lad, but were you at the Xtrmntr gig over Newcastle when they toured the album? One of my best gigs ever. I am sure a few more on here have said similar n'all. They were on top form that night

Think it was just before I started going to gigs. The lads who I go with now were there so though & said the same about it being top notch.

I’m not jelous at all.

Aye. Was £8 a pint. There’s a point when it becomes a complete piss take it’s this like.

Glad I don’t go to the Academy’s often.

Busy one later in the year. So far in september its Ricky Warwick and The fighting Hearts, november is The Almighty in nottingham and then British Lion in Bradford.

Just remember hardly anyone there, dodgy atmosphere with bouncers already, then they only played 3 songs and smashed the stage up, band told everyone to go mental and we did and all got dragged out

Stockton showcase looks great, again brilliant value, shambolics and utopiates are both brilliant and not to be missed!

Thanks for clarifying what half a pint of beer and half a coke looks like. I'll sleep tonight.
I think the pic adds something
That blokes needs to drink water for a few months I'd say
He'll thank him later

It's shocking bar prices there mind, like drinking in London. Normally drink somewhere else like City Tavern or 5 Swans before going in. Hard to get through a gig without getting at least 1 drink in though so usually end up giving in and buying something
