Dan Neil

Who has? DN?

He’s had some poorer displays but normally coincided with his partners in MF doing nowt.

Aye, don't think he's had a very good season by any standard. The same player he was last year, which is fine for this division, just not what I had envisaged.

While Jobe's form may have dropped off a cliff in January, he's still the more productive player 4 games out of 5, imo there.

Totally disagree regarding the productivity of the two players but whilst I agree Jobe’s form has plummeted, since early December, he is a very different style of player and he’s not about creating.

Personally imo.

Real shame he has stood still this season, closer to regressing if anything.
Taking over captaincy of a team that finished 16th last year and will finish 12 places higher, while playing alongside two teenagers – doesn't look like regresssion to me.

He's not perfect. But it feels like his mistakes and limitations are amplified more than our those of our other players, and I'm not sure why.

I think most of our fans enjoy watching him play and want him to succeed. A few think he's better than he probably is, a few think he's worse. A few seem to hate him and won't stop going on about it.

It isn't regression. He's playing a very difficult role very well.
Quality player

I don't hate him, love the lad and would be gutted to see him leave, I just had higher expectations than a pretty middling season, whereas everyone around him has progressed, which explains the 12 places higher, imo.

Quite the post this. Does your seat face away from the pitch?

Lol.

Idd about the roles, but then the majority of roles aren't easy.

I'd say a championship player on this season's form, which is below where I thought he'd be this year, disappointing imo.

Easy to improve from a low starting point isn’t it.

I normally think you talk a lot of sense. On this occasion not so much. He's grown into a role that goes against all his natural instincts. A role that has allowed a greater degree of freedom to Rigg an Jobe. Imo he's our most important player, in the role he's being asked to play he's improved greatly

Midfielders are his achille's heel. Was a big fan of George Dobson funnily enough.

Only joshing @Coeus marra. xx

Again, Idd with what you've said on the role, I didn't think it would suit his attributes and would stunt his potential since last season.

Although, he was pretty decent last year in it, his positioning and interceptions grew quite well, but IMO, he's that same player this season, which, when combined with the fact that the vast majority around him has improved, is disappointing.

His strong point is now his agility and ability to turn in tight situations; long gone are his days of being able to unlock a defence and composure in the final third, two attributes that I felt made him stand out. When he isn't passing well and his dribbling from deep doesn't work, I really don't think his defensive work stand out to the point of making up for it.

I'm not saying he's shit or anything like that, just that his form this season has been dissapointing and it makes me wonder If I was wrong about him having the potential of a premiership footballer.

Bet people will love this opinion, but I think his time under Mowbs didn't help. Being drilled over 18 months to get the ball to the wide man's feet appears to have hammered any freedom and creativity he used to have.

You proper hate him don’t ya 😆
I really don't. There's posts from me saying he's a Rolls Royce in the past. I just don't think he's anywhere near the player some like to think he is, and he can be a liability. The hype drives me nuts.

I think he plays the so called difficult deep role better than the one the more advanced one some people think he's best at. I think the DM role he's been groomed for is his best, and when we're at our best that's usually where he is. But there are flaws (he's 23 year old playing in the Championship, there's bound to be), and they expose us badly.

They expose us badly???? Who do

The flaws he's on about - getting caught in possession in our own half, misplaced passes to opposition players in our own half are what's exposing us badly and would be punished repeatedly in the Premier League. Don't you agree ? It's EVERY game man and I'm not exaggerating. FTM
