Aye I’m disappointed tbh. Although it did have a Gilliam-lite look.

An Indian psychological horror with plenty of camp.

Family get terrorized having realised their daughter has been possessed by a visitor.

It’s so shiny and glossy, the acting is great in a very very hammy way, and it definitely knows and accept what it is.

Get past the extremely cheesey family build up and enjoy it, I did. Especially the antagonist.

Is it? I’ve watched it a couple of times and enjoyed it but it’s not brilliant by any means despite a pretty strong cast. One of those films where if I happen across it whilst flicking channels I’d probably watch but wouldn’t seek out. 6.5/10 perhaps?

That's why some people would think it's underrated though, right? If they love it and other people don't think it's all that
 
Mister Roberts (1955) 8/10
Henry Fonda as an officer assigned to a supply ship in WWII, but desperate to transfer to a warship. James Cagney as the captain determined to stop him. Initially directed by John Ford, who was replaced after punching Fonda.

Young Winston (1972) 6/10
Historical epic from Dickie Attenborough, written by Carl Foreman after he was blacklisted in Hollywood. Loads of British thespians in supporting roles. Edward Woodward appears as a British officer in the Boer War, foreshadowing his role in Breaker Morant, one of my all-time favourite films. (The Boer War scenes aren't convincing - having been filmed in Hampshire.)

High Noon (1952) 10/10
After reading Glenn Frankel's book about The Searchers, I'm now onto his account of High Noon. Screenplay by Carl Foreman, intended as an allegory about the anti-Communist witch-hunt that forced him into exile in UK. (One revelation in the book that was new to me: Gary Cooper's parents were both English and he was educated in Dunstable.)

I suppose so. I think most people would say it’s okay. I think it’s a bit more enjoyable than its quality would suggest if that’s not completely ridiculous to say.

MEMENTO - 6 outa 10. Enjoyed it, very unusual how its, well...backwards. Cleverly done, cool concept. Can't imagine it was easy to do. reminded my of early Tarantino actually. Not gonna lie though, found myself wanting it to just end. Nice seeing her out of Matrix again. Canny bit stuff.

Downloaded at the weekend, have read a few of Robert Harris s books, as you say its dull but decent, and I certainly cant imagine folks queuing round the block to get in to see it. Probably more interesting if you are of the catholic faith, although I dont think the catholic church comes out of it very well

Really enjoyed the Ghost Writer, another one of Harris s books made into a film. Tony Blair doesn't come out of it too well either

Difficult to polish the Catholic Church in to coming out well of anything. Father Ted is probably just about the most positive representation of Catholicism I’ve ever seen!

A spy (Roy Scheider) recovering from a nervous breakdown finds himself targeted for assassination by an unknown force.
Directed by Jonathan Demme. A bit Hitchcock, a bit noir, a bit daft. More than a bit decent.

It was terrible, and I was looking forward to it as well.
I suspect the critics giving good reviews had them practically pre-written due to the (imo) overrated director.
