Patto

He wasn't to blame for yesterday's goal for starters.

Mepham has given the ball away and totally took himself out of the game. Dan Neil is running back and should have tried to get inbetween 2 unmarked players. Bizarrely he stops and leaves them in 3 yards of space. Patto tries to spread himself if front of one the unmarked player inside the 6 yard box and gets it wrong. He basically had no chance, dropped in the shit by his defence.

The goal is about 2% the fault of Patto.
He was at fault for yesterday, and the previous goals I mentioned.

Any decent keeper comes out and punches that ball before their player heads it instead he stands 2 yards behind the player and spreads himself for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Deny it or dress it up anyway you want, but Patto just doesn't command his 6 yard box let alone venture into the 18 yard and take control. He's a good shot stopper and that's his limitation. Add that to his woeful distribution and there's no way on earth a Premier League side will be buying him. He's reached his ceiling right now.

The outcome of the game influences people's opinions on individual performances (I'm guilty of this too). We won last night so there isn't as much emphasis on mistakes. I think Patterson is a good championship keeper but as I've said before, we need a better keeper. Too many mistakes and in the Prem it would be even more costly.
Individual mistakes,if thats the level of the bar god help us.Almost every single player gave the ball away time and time again.FWIW I dont think we will go up so problem solved

Don’t recall the same level of abuse Patterson is getting compared to the likes of
Camp
Steele
Burge
Ruiter

Now they were bloody awful
Camp, Steele, Ruiter, and to a lesser extent Burge, all got a healthy dose of criticism for being woeful.

Most people are commenting on Patterson's blatant weaknesses to his game, and commenting on some pretty obvious weight gain. I wouldn't say any of that meets the definition of "abuse"

He's obviously discovered Uber Eats.

He is man, he's got himself into a decent position.
😂

Not the best shot but here's Luke 'marking up' 5 yards off the man 😂

Patto is 5 yards off the man too but apparently should challenge for the ball 😂

He can't leave his line earlier or the wide player could score himself.

I honestly think some people know nothing at all about football.

Keith, what's going on? He's clearly with his man and if the Sheffield lad tries to hit the back post from that position then there's a good chance O'Nien gets to it first.

Patterson can clearly see a lad is unmarked in front of him because Neil has left him, and he must know O'Nien is covering the lad at the back.

He's got to assume the ball is going to hit the unmarked lad and let O'Nien deal with the alternative.

As I say though, shambolic all round. A good 5 of them all at fault.

How does Patto guess that Dan Neil is going to inexplicably stop half a second earlier?

Dan Neil has to put himself in front of the wide player inbetween him and the lad in the middle. He doesn't. That player can now cross on the deck or if Patto leaves his line shoot at an unguarded net.

There's literally 2 unmarked players and Patto. He had no chance due to his defence making 2 errors in front of him.

Half a second isn't right. Patterson should be aware a Sheffield lad is in front of him.

I don't know what he's doing, at least jump with the lad to make it awkward for him even if you don't fancy yourself to win the header.

There isn't. The photo you posted demonstrates that. O'Nien is with the lad at the back post.

There is!

The lad who crosses the ball is totally unmarked, he can cross on the deck or in the air. The lad in the middle is also totally unmarked.

Dan Neil stops.

It's a complete fuck up.

But it's all Patto's fault 😂

Anyone who tries to say Patterson is a good keeper literally needs sectioned. He is shocking. He is a half decent shot stopper but can't kick, can't catch, is rooted to his line always. This initial build up to Wednesdays goal last night may not of been his fault but he should of come and claimed the weak cross...instead he done nothing. He is shocking

Ah right, I thought you were talking about the lad at the back post.

Definitely not all Patterson's fault. Shambles from the moment they tried to play out from the back. The lad should put it away whether Patterson moves out the way or not also.

Patterson got absolutely no protection there and that's the job of the back four and midfielders playing deeper.

We're talking about the keeper when really we're making a habit of giving the ball away cheaply and not being able to cope from there. That's the problem.

Dan Neil also dropped O'Nien in the shite. He moved towards the lad who scored then thought, oh Dan's going there so I'll cover the back stick. Then he stopped giving Luke no time to react.

Luke is now marking a player who is never going to get the ball.

So basically you have Patto and O'Nien in no mans land because of Dan Neil. Not forgetting Mepham's initial fuck up.
