Patto

Concentration is the lads downfall.
Spot on. Nearly got lobbed from the half way line against Watford, from being out of position from the kick off. His distribution is appalling.

I have defended Patto in the past on here, he has at times saved us points- but he is not at the races at the moment. Maybe dropping him for a couple of games might make him realise he's not indispensable.

And, he should have been wearing a cap in the first half. I definitely think the sun played a part in the cock up at the corner.

Lional Perez would have taken Roberts out to make sure the ball was his, as would any commanding keeper. Pattison for all his attributes is a big fanny and needs to bully everyone in his box, that includes his own players.

Couldn't really see what happened from where I was stood and just watched it back for the first time. Poor, you very rarely see such goals conceded for a reason.

Patterson's at fault for that. It's his job to command that area. If he thinks Roberts is getting in the way then it's his job to barge him out of it and collect it.

Players make mistakes though.

Anyone can shout “keepers” and I’m sure they do…did Roberts know if there was a Hull player behind him? I don’t see many players on the post leaving that ball….IF in doubt.

Don't be ridiculous. Keepers should be screaming that it's their ball, otherwise why communicate with the defence at all, if it could be "anyone" shouting? That's an absolute bog standard call for it at minimum. And if he's not willing to open his mouth then he should've wiped out the defender to get to the ball. Standing there with his mouth shut was wrong in every aspect.

But aye, suppose given that Patto a mute, stuck to his line it's probably fair to assume Roberts wouldn't know what he sounds like.

He's bulked up yes, but that doesn't mean he's overweight or that's the reason for the mistakes in the last two games.

Aye, watching that back from yesterday, I don't think it's got anything to do with his weight. It's judgement. He's judged that he could take the ball over Roberts' head when he should have judged that he needed to barge Roberts out of the way as he jumped to collect it earlier. He hasn't commanded his area there but nothing to do with weight.

Anyway, focusing on one player won't solve the problem. We're not dominating these types of teams at home and that's not top two material.

This is a thread regarding the keeper who should have comfortably dealt with the ball in. That’s what im going on about. He’s not at the required standard and his overall performances are not where they should be and he should be dropped immediately and should have been dropped for yesterday.

So you accept your making up your reply to me then. Thanks.
For what it’s worth I agree with you on Patti needs a break. But I also think there’s an issue with having your smallest man on the front post.

I’ve defended the lad a lot on here over the past couple of seasons, but he’s starting to drop in form lately. Like many have said he doesn’t command his area at all and I don’t think I’ve heard him call out and come and claim a ball etc. he’s a unit as well so shouldn’t be bullied like he is. He’s definitely having a dip and needs to work on a lot of aspects of his game not just his kicking.

Done for me. If he wasn’t an academy product, he would have been dropped months ago. Has no confidence or command of his box. That wasn’t the first ball to slip through his hands. He should have been through the back of Roberts and grabbing the ball.
I honestly don't think we'd get a better keeper than Patterson unless we spent a lot of money. Yes, there's been two bad mistakes in the last two but he's generally been good this season.

And for those unequivocally stating he's overweight, I'd be staggered if the club didn't regularly monitor the physical condition of players and if any fall below the standards I imagine there'd be consequences.
Viktor Johansson from Stoke? Shouldn’t cost a massive amount. Could see Patterson go the other way in return.

That penalty area is Pattersons . He spends most of the match in there. He can use his hands punch
and command his area. This is the main problem . Even allowing for distribution errors, weight issue and positioning, I would like to see Patto much more vocal and boss that area. He's a quiet lad but needs to get "out of his shell" match days, and that might help. Like a good performer, once your on that stage The beast comes out. Maybe nice guy 09 could help his training.?

Sels just fumbled one out for a corner, was lucky it wasn't an OG. Pope massively out of position for the Forest goal. Chelsea keeper let one sneak under his armpit yesterday. Keepers make mistakes, just like outfield players. It's just more obvious when they do. Not convinced that immediately dropping them helps anyone.

He's absolutely shocking

The club are unlikely to shell out a load of money on a replacement with Matty Young waiting in the wings. Expect us to persevere with Patto until Young is ready and then he'll be sold

I'm sick of reading Honk post that there's nothing wrong with his weight because the club's fitness team would have said something ffs

the bloke looks like jabba the hut imo, nee idea what he's been pouching but he would give razor ruddock a run for his money in terms of the owld kite he's got there marra

Hello everyone must first say that this is absolutely something I’ve heard and can’t confirm, but friends of mine who mix in the same circles as Patto mentioned he was collected from the Casino midweek mortal drunk.

not trying to pile on the lad or owt but if true not brilliant professionalism is it (also I’m not trying to be a WUM or a gobshite here and also appreciate it’s convenient after he makes a mistake)

Its inevitable that after yesterday and the 95th minute at Leeds that Patterson is going to be a big discussion point. In my view up until the last minute at Leeds he has had a pretty good season. made some mistakes won some points with outstanding saves. Norwich and Sheffield United spring to mind as games won down to his excellence. At Leeds he should have done better - he gets a fingernail on that cross and they dont score and yesterday was a shambolic error and all on him imo.

That said the criticism on here is way OTT but he has had a terrible week.

Were his pockets bulging?
