You're support is effing shit

When I was a bairn me and me da had tickets up in the gods and one bloke used to absolutely belt out the songs on his todd whether people joined in or not. Used to think it was proper weird when I was a teenager but now every time I'm in the ground (I live away) I think I'd kill for that bloke now, I don't have the bollocks to do that

Maybe supporters are just fed up of lower tier football since we dropped from the premier league. Guarantee If we were In premier league would be different atmosphere. Doesn't help with It being a 12.30 kick off either against Hull doesn't exactly get the supporters excited. Can't knock 44 thousand though
Wasn’t particularly different in the prem tbh. Not since Keane.

People just can’t be arsed to contribute mate. I’ve never known our fans to have so many excuses for not singing and shouting at the match.

In almost every home game the away fans sing this. It's obviously not aimed at the amount of people in the stadium as we are the best in that respect as the numbers prove that.

It's obviously aimed at the complete lack of atmosphere and support for the team.

I've been a season ticket holder for decades and I must admit the last few seasons I've noticed a down turn in atmosphere

Having said that I don't think it's just a Sunderland problem I think it's noticeable at every other club when they play at home.

It's usually the away fans who make the most noise
Our atmosphere isn't great. But generally as a support we react to what's on the pitch and whilst we've been getting results, at home, it's largely been dull to watch.

Our support loves a team that plays on the front foot. We're literally the polar opposite of this.

The last few games our support has been quiet because the play has been slow and tedious. Atmosphere was much better when we were breathing down the neck of Sheffield and going for everything. We're a fanbase that react to players running through brick walls.
Exactly. New years day at 8pm. Atmosphere should have been poor but we saw some aggression on the pitch and reacted to it.

Over the last thirty five years football has intentionally turned me from a supporter into a consumer.

f***ing earn my support. I owe you absolutely f***ing nothing. Your product is not worth what I pay for it.

You crested this situation, not me. We can go back to the eighties deal any time you want.

It was absolutely dire mate, bar the first 10 mins or so.
When was the last time we blew teams away? Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 I remember that being a good atmosphere, ultimately we react to what's going on the pitch.

Can't really argue with that
Trouble is there was 44,000 there today which is a great attendance. For every match on this forum we have threads bleating on about our home attendances.
Trouble is 44,000 don't make much noise.
Any opposing fan reading this forum will rightly ridicule us.
Personally I couldn't give a fuck about noise, winning is more important.though noise helps!?

Yeah usually which isnt great. We need to get behind the team when they are struggling which is proper support. The crowd just gave up and couldnt be arsed in the second half. A real shame.

It's also a feature of the stadium. I'm in U20 and can barely hear the away fans and I suspect they can't hear anything either.

12.30 kick off as well which equals less beer time for supporters coupled with our loss at Leeds the other night and automatics pretty much over It was always going to be a dull atmosphere.

Except that you can’t ‘guarantee’ that if we were in the premier league the atmosphere would be better.

We’d probably be winning less games in the premier league so if anything it would probably be even more morose.

When we won the Third Division under Denis Smith, the atmosphere was good all season. The supporters didn’t say “we are not in the top flight, so we won’t contribute to an atmosphere”

Disagree that SAFC generating a home atmosphere is reliant on top flight participation.
