Tommy Watson ( ...off to Brighton)

Brilliant young player and he loves his club, simple really isn’t it

He's (and the Club) have got plenty of time on their side.

Watson and the Club can wait until we get the £30+ million offer like we did for Henderson and Pickford.

They both also loved the Club but things happen for the best for all parties.

Most likely the kid would have gone if agreement was reached but it hardly stinks of downing tools unless he gets the move. He just liked the idea of being in the Premier League and increasing his wages. I'll be happy to see him back out there for us in a few weeks. I still think it's play-offs and this kid might be enough to win them for us.

Maybe, but his advisers will also have informed him that there all sorts of oddballs, social misfits and out-and-out lunatics out there who talk huge levels of shite on social media.

Won't be a problem.
I agree with this mate, I am sure they will, however, it is a double edge sword.

My point was/is that a kid of his age shouldn't have to endure any of this and I hope you are correct that it won't be a problem as I really want to see this kid develop with us.

No bother, mate.

To be fair, it's a very small minority among loads of posters. In that small minority, you probably have a good few who don't even go to the matches and/or just like a bit of drama with strangers on a message board.

The rest will just want him to do well. Either him or Mundle are going to be very important in the last couple of months of the season and most know that. If he does move on at some point, it happens in football, most know that. My opinion is that it's in his interests to stay for at least a couple of years and if he does move for money that wouldn't be a good sign of his character at this stage when he's such a young lad in football terms with many years ahead of him.

But, none of that has happened, the only post that appears to be credible is from a lad who knows someone close to the family and that post states that he didn't want to go. It doesn't really matter now either way because he's still here.

And, he has a bit to do yet to establish himself in the first team. 12 million quid or whatever is a lot of money for a 17 years old who has played a handful of matches, time will tell whether that valuation reflects what he has.

There'll always be people who get carried away on message boards, I'd imagine that clubs and agents will be drumming into young players that even when they're doing well they will always get a bit of stick from a few. On that basis, I'd be surprised if it's a problem for him as he should expect some criticism even at the best of times. Look at a player such as Samed with a good pedigree, quite a few have decided he's shite, Neil and Roberts have a fair few detractors, go back a couple of weeks and a few were saying we need a proper centre forward. There are a few above criticism, e.g. Bellingham and Rigg, and Le Fee will also be in that bracket now. Just the way it is on message boards and some people like to find happiness in misery and it doesn't matter that they don't know anything about what happened, part of life, Watson should have been told that.

Just a shame we haven't got either him or Mundle fit and ready to play now.

See there’s a bit out there saying they come back and offer us less 😂 they do zero work with some of these stories mind. We won’t just accept any old price even if his contract ran down we’d be due a sizable amount of compo if he signed for an English club.

Nixon reporting Brighton now wanting a cut price deal in the summer in an article littered with bullshit as he mentioned Watson won’t get many minutes as we signed replacements in his position in Jan, when the exact reason he didn’t go is that we didn’t sign replacements.

Sure they will try there luck but as there will likely be other interest and we would still get compensation if he stayed another year, we aren’t going to let him walk out of the door on the cheap.
