It might be that he's had his nose out of joint for a while now. Given his similarities with Clarke he was the accepted next in line for left wing and given his confidence probably expected a similar trajectory. Then we sign Mundle and hes got a fight on his hands . He's young he may see that as a breach of trust and expectation. Kids can be sulky.

We had Mundle long before Watson was in 1st team contention

I wouldn’t imagine so.

10k a weekish, 6k after tax, 24k a month, 288k a year for 5 year let’s just say. Very good money but it’s not going to ensure you never have to work again after playing.

Change that to 30k, 18k after tax, 54k a month, 648k a year for 5 year. Plus a hefty signing on fee.

That’s a huge difference.

The lad is supposed to follow Sunderland. He's from this area. He'll get plenty of time to secure his future if he's good enough. If he's the sort of lad who gets a sniff of the bright lights and can't resist it after playing a few matches, which I have no idea by the way and for all I know he could be insistent that he isn't going anywhere, then aye, I'd conclude he's a bell end.

He has a bit to do yet. He's got that ability to drift past players without looking like he's doing much, presumably a turn of pace, but there's a lot of work to do on his quality on the ball. If he has any sense he'll stay where he is with his family, mates and the club he supports, play some matches and learn; rather than go to Brighton for the money when he is nowhere near a top flight player, i.e. he'll be sat on the bench at the very best.
 
I think 10 mil is very good money for him if that's what he's going for. A lot of potential in Watson but that potential has to be realised. Watson also has to look out for his own future who would turn down the chance of becoming a millionaire? Young players like Rigg are very rare but even then the club had to pay more in wages for a player his age than they normally would. I think Rigg has a way higher ceiling than Watson by the way even though they play different positions.

This, no one has ever said he wasn’t probably tripling his wages however he joined a club that was obviously going to be struggling and odds on to be back down here within a year. Then add on the damage if it didn’t work out like it hasn’t so far he’d be a player that had failed twice in the top flight. Not many players get three cracks at the premier league. He was top dog here we look like challengers to get promotion it was a daft move to take imho as he looks like he will be back where he started next season all be it in better wages.

And what if he picks up an injury? Loss of form etc? The opportunity might not come again.

Strike while irons hot as clubs regardless of a plsyers allegiance will quickly get rid when it suits them.

No idea where the values are coming from. Seen some links on this thread and the bid value seemed to jump from £4m to £10m somehow.
Guess it’s just a case of let’s wait and see what happens.
