Adil Aouchiche

None of the midfielders played well in the Plymouth game except Le Fee in the first half. Rigg has been injured and needs managing. We'll never know if Aouchiche would have made a difference but he couldn't have done any worse.
I just don’t see how he should have had more of a chance than he got based on anything I’ve seen and to me it’s the classic case of you forget all the negatives about a player when they’re not on the pitch. Everyone becomes a much better player out the side than when they’re in. The biggest example was people demanding Joe Anderson play in the Play Offs, bloke is utterly useless but we’d have been in the PL if Mowbray (a CB of great pedigree himself) could only see it.

Mundle and Watson will need time to get back up to speed as will Rigg. I think Aochiche is a clever player you don't, I get that, good luck to him and I hope he plays a blinder for Portsmouth against our 3 rivals for automatic promotion.

Yeah me too. Don’t wish him any ill at all (though have heard he can be a bit of a tool but that’s beside the point)

You’ve misunderstood my point as well. My initial point was saying people said he hadn’t had a chance, past tense. I can’t see when he should have had more of a chance, especially not this season.

So do I. I don’t wish him any ill. I just don’t think he deserved any more than he got. Who was he better than to deserve more of a chance??

For me it's not a case of him deserving a chance more than someone, more so that he just deserved a chance. Never been keen on the idea of Rigg playing 90 minutes most week and just don't think it's beneficial for him or for us as a team for him to play just about every second he's available, it will at some point naturally bring a downturn in his effectiveness as it has done in last month or two.

The manager said we lacked control on Saturday and it's a perfect example of when I'd have liked to have seen Aouchiche used to prove his worth. He can carry the ball and he can retain it well higher up the pitch, Roberts is probably our only other player like that who does it with any consistency. Certainly would find him more useful in those positions than Ballard for Cirkin & Hjlede on not long after as a combined pair of subs if we're looking to control it more. Not that he suddenly turns us into a team of world beaters or single handedly stops the amount of late goals we concede but I do think he could have been used better in those moments. Do also think there was the option to use him centrally a little more often in a spell in November/December when we were struggling to create.

I do think if a new signing had his season so far we'd all find it a bit odd. Grafting his bollocks off in the 23's when he was almost set aside, scoring and creating constantly in the 23's, finally gets a start and looks good without being amazing three or four games on the bounce... then is back out the team with not a single second played in the next four and shipped out.

I don’t agree tbh. I’ve only ever seen glimpses when we’re chasing a game off the bench. I’d never in any way say he’d bring control and I don’t care what anyone else says, if he comes on on Saturday, he still has to defend. And he can’t defend.

Too slow on the ball and also abit too heavy on his feet , shame as had the potential to go right to the top when he first came onto the scene.

Was an exciting time when him and Pembele signed

Most of this place did did they? They are the experts on here after all! Okay well put it this way. Is he better than our first choice CMs? No. Is he better than Mundle, Watson and Le Fee? No. Do we play with a 10? No. So where was he supposed to get more of a chance?
Well, you’re giving your opinion regarding him being average in those games. I thought he was our best player v Stoke, for example.
No-one is claiming to be an expert, they are giving opinions, just as you are.

The rationale that my opinion was wrong was that most of this place thought he was the best player against Stoke. As if that would give it great weight. That’s far from credible that he was. I, and others, disagree. I’m also not out to get him, I just don’t see any basis that he “deserved more of a chance” because that would mean better players making way for a guy who ultimately is finding his level in the lower reaches of the league.

and again, that’s your opinion. I’m not saying you are wrong and I’m sure most others aren’t, I thought he was our best player in that game but people see them differently and that’s the beauty of the game imo.
I think he could have contributed between now and the rest of the season but we’ll just have to see if we bring anyone in now and what the injured lads are like when they return.

Standard RLB stubbornness. Decided he didn’t like him from the start and despite his efforts and good performances during the injuries he got immediately dropped to play Le Feè (out of position). He’s a decent player who can contribute but RLB has his favourites and that’s that.

His favourites being Mundle, Watson, Le Fee, Jobe, Neil, Rigg ahead of him. Aye I’m okay with those favourites I have to say.

Another decent player who never really got much of a chance to play in his best position. But as we progress the standard is raised and some players who are not getting, or likely to get a regular game must move on. I hope he gets a good contract and living from the game in the future.
