India v England 3rd T20i. 28th January 2025

The funny thing is that Salt is still ranked 2nd by the ICC

Averages 34 @ 164

So he’s not as rubbish as people suggest

I don't think he is rubbish, and he is very unselfish player, I just not convinced against high class bowling

tbh though I am probs talking about 50 over stuff, he shouldn't be in the squad for me, dont think he has the ability, but T20 is fair enough I guess.

Think I agree with poster above in terms of Smith.

I’m not massively convinced either.

In T20s, if he’s going to strike hard then it makes sense to an extent

The one I don’t get. Crawley. I don’t think he’s good enough for tests (as you know), but he’s perfect for a white ball opener.

Wonder why that’s not been tried

Crawley to me is the perfect 50 over opener, he hits good balls for 4 and the white ball doesnt do much, I was really sure McCullum would try him yeah.

I'm worried about the appointment actually, we've been brain dead in white ball cricket for years and our only plan is ever to "go harder"

Well 50 over cricket is mint but very hard and the Aussies showed when they world cup how smart, adaptable and skilled you need to be. Its mostly their test team, we have some players in who I just don't think are up to it.

That’s my view on Crawley as well, long levers and beats the infield.

I’d play him in t20 stuff too.

Sam Billings v Chris Jordan in the BBL final coming up soon, 8.15am.

Odd time to play a final Monday night? (Oz time).

Billings scored 20 from 14 balls an OK cameo.

Old Chris got a fair bit tap. Went for 47 from his 4 overs, no wickets. 36 now, obviously game over for his England career.

He's ranked their because of how well he's done against the West Indies.

He's been poor against everyone else.

Yeah was aware of that disparity. I’ve never been totally convinced (albeit that strike rate is still decent)

In the BBL final Hobart going well!

First wicket gone, out 13 off 12 balls.

At the other end Owen has 85 from 32

100 off 39 balls. Joint fastest century in BBL history.

Gone for 108 from 42, 6 fours, 11 sixes.

138-3 off 10 chasing 182. All over by the looks.

Home with 35 balls to spare. Good watch.

I just have no faith in Buttler as captain, think hes poor and the T20 we won was on the back of his batting alongside Hales and Stokes with Curran being POTT.

think it would be a great opportunity to give Brook the ODI gig and maybe the T20 gig (though id prefer an alternative option for T20)

Get Buttler back opening

Really good shout that. I was hoping this shy and quiet captain persona was just for us and behind closed doors he was a more vocal leader. That ship has long sailed for me. He's been a shit captain. Still a gun batter but something needs to change.

Hope McCullum can turn it around. Because we're looking a bit threadbare. Yes, their team is full of IPL talent but they are still relatively unknown in international standards. And we should be doing a lot better than just running them close.
