Future cup games - fan experience and incentives to go

Fair point, it used to be straightforward as there were no season tickets in the South Stand and we could allocate the whole of that end to away fans when necessary.

We might not be able to allocate away fans the North Upper anyway if we get promoted to the Premier League due to their away seating rules around pitchside allocations ( ) so maybe its time to makes some changes in the North Stand or corners? Whatever we do, if we reserve a section for match-day sales as opposed to season tickets we can always give that to away fans when necessary.
There's a get around if the police/ground authority stipulate away fans have to be in an upper tier for segregation reasons. That's why the away fans are still in the gods at the shit tip.

Think that was what was happening yesterday. Water vapour from the crowd breathing out rising and condensing on the roof. Made worse by their being no wind. Hard to see how it could be a leak when it hadn't rained for days.

FA impose a £10 minimum.
It snowed the day before. I think it was melting on the roof and was leaking through because it was in specific places.

The cup scheme would only be available to season ticket holders, so it would still be season ticket holders getting priority.

If we got to the FA Cup final we'd get about 20k tickets with 30k season ticket holders, the vast majority of who are on 0 to 4 points.

Those who went to the earlier rounds should obviously be given priority.

You get 30k tickets, or Man City and United did last year anyway. Should be enough for all the season ticket holders I'd say because not everyone will want to go. Don't disagree with cup attendees getting priority though with the season tickets mind.

Thought you meant that people attended the cup games would get priority over everyone.

Maybe just do a 5+ points? I believe that would be more than all the home points that have been given out this season with cups and the freebies around Christmas.

Yesterday was embarrassing all around something needs to be done to get fans in for early cup rounds

Don’t get the embarrassment thing? I went but I’m not embarrassed or that arsed about people who didn’t bother or the result.

If fact, only thing bothering me is Alese’s injuries and pleased no one else got injured!

I was down the ticket office sorting a couple of things out when I got our tickets. A bloke came in and asked to opt into the direct debit scheme for cup tickets. The lasses on the desk said they haven't done that for years. I guess it was another thing lost when they moved to Ticketmaster.

I bet the option to opt in at the start of the season and being able to keep your own seat would make a difference.

Club would lose a fortune as they get charged ticket money whatever happens.

If they wanted to give comps out for the first 2 games that's a minimum of £20.

With a season ticket list of 30,000 that's £600,000 down the pisser
30 000 wouldn't (and don't go) if it was £20, that's what the current problem is.

It would cost the club money by having the full ground open though with blocks half empty though so who's winning? The only people that would cater for is those obsessed with attendance numbers as the club would be worse off.

I might be in the minority but there was a lot more people there than I expected, I thought we would've stuggled to get 5 figures like Sheffield United did. It was a cup game against Stoke which cost £20. Nothing attractive about that.

It was arguably the least interesting match up. Stoke aren't the most interesting opposition at the best of times but especially not when it's the 3rd game in a month and the other 2 weren't exactly classics. I assume Stoke felt the same about us.
If it was a PL club they would have been more on the gate, if it was a lower league the same amount of our fans would have probably turned up but more away fans might have fancied like Mansfield did a few years back. If it was a more local club it would have had more interest and even a more intriguing Championship club would have better.
Don't get drawn against Stoke
Why say in a 100+ words what Get the Rave on said in 5

For me opening up bits of ground and releasing blocks section at a time doesn’t help.

Just open all the bottom bowl day 1 of sales, give the away fans the north stand lower section (middle of it at least and leave sides empty for segregation).

Then sell all tickets for £10 for adult and £5 for kids anywhere in bottom bowl. Same for away fans. Simple pricing and giving families an opportunity to see a game relatively cheaply compared to normal.

Then advertise the hell out of it and really push it. Getting loads of kids in attendance is a good thing for the health of the game.

Appreciate it will not be full but better than the current experience.

Whilst there was no ST holders in the south stand, there were some in the SE corner who did get moved for the hartlepool match

Should do kids for a quid or summit. Thought £15 for an adult SCH was good value.

As well meaning as a lot of these ideas are they would potentially add what, 5000 to the gate. If the extra fans have to be incentivised to go is it really worth it?

I’m not sure if FA would be ok with kids for a quid though, although I agree lower pricing is the way to go for cup games.

I heard the FA set minimum pricing allowed but not sure what it is and if it differs for adults and kids.

This is the minimum that has to happen for the next home cup match. As well as making it difficult for people to buy in groups and being put off by the hassle of the approach taken yesterday, as someone who was there, believe you me, if they do the same next time there will be loads who went yesterday who will be put off going due to the shambles getting into the ground and the concourse situation.

Might be a minority opinion as well, but having the 16,000 yesterday spread across the lower bowl, whilst still looking shite, would look way better and less embarrassing than having full stands closed and empty. The club needs to stop thinking small time.

To add, if any evidence is needed to assess the impact of the different approaches taken, how come we had 30k turn up against Fulham in the 4th round midweek replay a couple of years ago? That was also against an uninspiring team and it was also televised on the BBC, and there’s not much difference attraction wise between Rounds 3 and 4.

A lot of good ideas and suggestions ,the club did themselves no favours yesterday with the shambles getting in, some upto 15 mins late
One passing female club official said don't blame us the stadium has been open since half one.
Aye good idea go in early in almost sub zero temperatures , how about opening both sides of the turnstiles when the problem was escalating, not at ten past three ..
I queue for usually no more than 5 mins when there is 40k but 35 mins yesterday for 15k.
Crap organisation. I hope they take the opportunity to read some of these proposals and learn from it. It was a fiasco yesterday.

Shite attendances for these fixtures are a usually a direct result of:
•Current form
•Competition being devalued to the point no one cares about it
•time of year with people being skint
•being drawn against utter shite like Stoke
•firesticks

Not sure I’d have gone yesterday even if my ticket was free 😂, also we’ve had three home games in the last few weeks, it’s just after Christmas people haven’t got the money, I’d imagine if you’re taking a couple of kids to the game, tickets, transport, food and drinks would be the thick end of £100
When people talk about stuff being expensive why do they always add on stuff they dont need to pay for and also at ridiculously high levels?
