Fair play to him for the penalty save. Thought he was good tonight however that dummy he tried in the first half was crazy. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing when he tried that
….and pulled it off.
Kept his head and played it to Alese.
It was too close for comfort, yes….but it didn’t end up with them getting a shot in, much less, a goal.
Great shot stopper, probs the best in the league but when it's at his feet god have mercy on my soul. . . .
Yeah….all those goals that Sheff Utd scored from when he had the ball at his feet…..oh, hang on 🤔

Another good performance last night. Really pleased for him but it's one position that isn't as hard to replace as others and I do think he'll leave and end up on the bench for a top 6 Premier league club at some point.

We appear to have the next Pickford coming up in Matty Young so hopefully our next young keeper is sorted for the foreseeable..

Great game against an ex PL side that has invested heavily. Key saves, good distribution bar one that was too ambitious. Still improving. I remember many thought Pickford was shot as well - many fans have an automatic downer on anyone local that wasn’t bought in.

The crowd aren't helping (yes fan's fault blah blah).

He's obviously being coached to play out, use both feet, but it is clearly a weakness to his game that needs improved. But getting on the lad with the multiple groans and whinges every time he has the ball at his feet isn't helping. He can spray the ball around well at times.

Overall though, last few minutes he commanded well, brave as hell for the last one with 2 sliding in at him, and won us the game.

His distribution at present will prevent him playing at the very top. But he's young enough to mature and improve as a player for plenty years to come.

Give me Anthony Patterson any day of the week over some of the clowns that were there the few seasons before him.

All those kicks out of play and shit touches . . . You moron

Any half minded fan knows his shot stopping is second to none but his distribution is awful you clever twat

I thought Patto was the next Pickford. He even went on loan to Notts County the lot.

His kicking is inconsistent.

Worth remembering that he's being asked to make passes that some of our outfield players would struggle to make. He's asked to hit them wide because there's a small margin for error. They're hard to make and many won't come off. Better that it goes out of play than we get turned over in the middle. Still, he needs to improve – it's part of the keeper's role now.

He gets some of them right too. Check out the absolute beauty in first few seconds of these highlights.

He pinged one like that against Stoke too.

Patterson takes on passes with his left and right foot that most keepers won't even try. People talk about the ball at his feet as his weak spot, I personally think its one of his strengths.

Yes, he finds touch occasionally, but he also splits opposition defences with ease and doesn't allow teams to rattle him with high pressing tactics. He regularly hits cross field balls left to right and right to left off either foot. Very, very few keepers will try it, let alone succeed with it.

He could perhaps stand to be a bit more commanding in the box, but overall I think he's a massive asset to the team.
