Milan Aleksic - Confirmed

I fully get the succession planning at the club and think it’s the way forward for us. What I do think odd is this lad Aleksic isn’t playing any football at any level at the club. Yes he might not be ready for the first team right now and language and culture is an obstacle, but surely he would gain more by playing football as after all that’s what he is a footballer.

Not playing any football for months despite being fit and ready, then all of a sudden required to start in CM tomorrow away at stoke due to the rigg injury.

Excellent work Sunderland

If he isn't good enough to be getting 10-15 mins here and there, how is he good enough to play 90 mins? He shouldn't even be on the bench

There's a lot of positive things happening with the team lately but some things are baffling and frustrating. Our refusal to make any subs is one of them

The sub thing has cost us a lot of points. If we could manage this better we would be top.

He got lucky with the rigg injury as he had no one warmed up ready, even after 5 mins of on-field treatment. When the game restarted we had 10 (tired) players on the field instead of 11, defending a free kick when 2-1 up.

Luckily it went out of play soon after, but it could easily have stayed in play and we could have been chasing them around for 5 minutes with a man short. Totally unnecessary risk taking .

Rigg has been ran into the ground this season, the second he went down injured we should have had men warmed up and ready and made the sub instantly.

I'll never understand it

The club are taking their time with him, letting him settle in, learn the language and the culture. We are 4th in the league and CM is arguably our strongest position. I see no need to rush him into the team, nor do I understand the clamour/fewm from certain sections of our fan base. Maybe people are just desperate to label him “not good enough” and use that as a way to criticise Speakman.
It's actually the other way. The only people I see who are perfectly OK with the lad playing zero minutes at any level despite there being plenty of occasions to give him a go are those who have zero balance and defend the club over everything.

Aye some good points mate. It’s a squad game these days with starters and finishers. We need to wise up a bit in this area.

RLB has done an excellent job since being appointed but his substitutions have been a weakness. A bit more nous in this area and we would be top. Hopefully lessons are being learnt.

It's made weirder due to the current schedule. Maybe he doesn't think the subs are at the same level but surely you're forced into using them because we have another game tomorrow, then a game against Sheff Utd shortly afterwards and you simply need fresh legs and to give the starters a rest.

Maybe, just maybe the club knows better. Why is it that people always think they know better?

No one is saying they know better. People are quite rightfully questioning something that is strange.

He's been on the bench 18 times since he signed, and actually got on the pitch once, in November . It's all very odd .

In the middle of that he's played twice (90 mins and 84 mins) for Serbia u21s.

He's played for Sunderland u21s twice , once in September and once in December.

For a lad appears to be match fit , it's not a good sign throwing half a season away at his age.
