You're right he is average. He's an average championship level keeper in most aspects but a brilliant shot stopper to go along with it.

Average at this level doesn't make him bad, even if you put the word rank before it.

You’ll get pelters but it’s harsh but true for me.

He ain’t good enough for where we want to be. There’s a fair few better in this division we could have a look at.
 
Maybe not a major worry at this level - but his distribution and needing 1 or 2 touches passing the ball at the back and inviting the opposition press worries the shit out of me.

I don't even see that. When they're passing about at the back, he's fine most of the time.

Every now and again someone will give him a bit of a dodgy backpass and he struggles with his long kicking and it ends up going out of play. I don't see it as too much of a problem.

Punts upfield?

Today I was pissed off with the fannying on at goal kicks between him and Mepham. Goal kickj from Mepham to Patterson in the middle of his 6 yard box, only for Patterson to make a pointless, pressure pass for one of our lads to lose possession without getting into their half. Then repeat umpteen times, FFS!

It really was ridiculous how many times we lost the ball doing that in the first half. I'd much rather Patterson just lumped it as his passing from the back isn't good enough. At least that would give us a chance of picking up possession in their half.
