*~*~* Sunderland v Bristol City match thread *~*~*

Burnley might be saying the same after their last couple. Right in the mix for the play offs, we'd have all taken that.
Burnley are 3rd in the form table mind, we are down near the bottom alongside Luton & Plymouth. We would have all taken the play offs but it looks we are going to be in a right battle to make them if things don’t improve.

Awww.... a little tantrum. Bless.

And sick, little, pathetic, childish lowlifes have the brass neck to laugh at my every comment (no matter how much feeling I put in to them) with those stupid laughing emojis. Mind you anyone who resorts to them is as stupid and as primitive as the emojis they use in place of any sensible comment. So clearly a level beneath me. Nothing to worry about.

I thought we did exceptionally well. I think we were very good. I like to bring football down to its very basic components. For me I don’t and can’t see things like individual performances or team playing style. I can’t see more complex elements. I just see two things. Goals and the result at Full Time. I am not a fan who is so sad and bereft of any social life (or sex life) that I spend most of my days studying football and talking about “playing in the hole” or “distribution”. And for me last night I saw a terrific game where we did the two things I really only want to see from the team. Goals and a game we didn’t lose.

Am I happy? You betcha. Would I love being Champions? Absolutely. But would I like the money of the Playoff Final? More than anything. That’s more of a help in the Premier League than a trophy.

I said to my lads at the start of the season that we will be brilliant one game but could just not be able to get going the next because the youth in the team it’s hard to be consistent, the fact we are where we are shows they have done pretty damn well. Today and over last few weeks things haven’t been clicking. This is also done to players in and out of the team/injuries/suspensions so consistency is even harder.

Must say the ground seems pretty flat atmosphere wise. We are battling it out at top of the league with players including local youngsters of 17/18 yrs old and the crowd isn’t exactly being the 12th man they can be. Back up next week will bring the noise.
I don't think it helps having kick offs all over the place and on tv.

If you watch Roberts post match interview, he is clearly recovering from some sort of bug, coughing and spluttering and sniffling. O9 was obviously unwell therefore out and Regis had a bright red nose in his interview…..maybe they are all run down due to illness and lacking in energy, and can’t have helped playing in the storm on Saturday. Thought without 09 and losing Watson, we didn’t look great but we kept going and got the equaliser…..at least we have been scoring late goals rather than conceding during the last 2 games.

Said elsewhere, Roberts looked really ill at the end of the game. Credit to him for putting a shift in for the team.

I don't really know what to make of the game. First half we looked like world beaters, but we were bloody awful in front of goal (nobody taking any responsibility and virtually nowt on target again). Second half they changed their shape, pushed a further 10 yards up the pitch and we struggled to get anything out from the back.
I thought Ballard looked nervous all night, Dan Neil held it together when we could have been swamped. Rigg and Bellingham were bloody awful, and although Bellingham held the ball well he is back in the habit of needing 5 touches before he lets the ball go (is Dodds coaching the talent out of him again ?).
Plus points are that we got out of jail at the end through Roberts (who had been bloody awful and not in the game to this point, however he was starved of any service from Rigg or Bellingham) , and Auchiche was very lively when he came on.
With Burnley only drawing things could have been a lot worse (thats me glass half full moment), but we need to be converting some of these chances soon or the season could well fizzle out. It's not down to Isador either as almost nowt is coming from midfield or defence at the moment, so I don't see changing your centre forward as solving the problem.

Isidor was weak as piss last night

I think Chris Rigg should be taken out of the squad for one or two games just to give him a rest.
Mayenda played well, keep him in.
Isidor seems to always be a yard away from any ball that's played into him, not the answer.
Alese played well, mainly.
Neil was decent.
Roberts was frustrating as usual, until he scored 😁.
Ballard almost scored (emergency centre forward?).
O'Nien was missed.
