1st TEST :: New Zealand v England

Root just became the leading run Scorer in 4th innings of tests.

37 ball 50 on debut batting at 3
Some cracking little stats coming out, this from the BBC
England chased 104 runs at 8.21 runs per over, their best for a 100+ run chase in Test history.

Yes excellent win especially after the blip at the start of England first innings expect a Kiwi backlash in Wellington - should be a cracking test match.

Great win for England especially on the back of New Zealand winning in India.

Hopefully brilliant for the confidence of Carse.

Good to see the minority of people taking the piss out of Englands approach quiet.

No doubt they will be back when Englands approach falls flat again wanting them to play ‘properly’ whatever that is supposed to mean.

As England will fall flat of their face playing this way on occasions but it gives you more chance of winning test matches and they do win a lot of test matches

Don't they clash with the IPL?

Carse is playing in that.
Yes - North stated that Carse is involved in the IPL and therefore he won't be available but our three England players who arent involved ie Potts, Stokes and even Wood should be available to play in some of the first block of seven CC games.

I thought you were better than that

Your response is a real surprise! -not!

That was a great win! Achieved, as I posted after the 1st day,by batting conservatively early on in very testing conditions, then consolidating and finally accelerating. That's all the critics, "pisstakers" as you so lowly label them have been advocating.Has this convincing display not indicated that their concerns were justified?
Just a gentle reminder to temper your euphoria which in ways is intended to diminish what is a great victory over a very good outfit.

*Kiwis dropped 7 catches in England's 1st innings
*England have won the 1st test in each of the least 5 away series but have only won 1 of those series overall.
*
"In ways" should be " in no way".

Just caught up with the afternoon session. Yep knew he needed 19 so was happy when he came into bat, with a lovely 6 to get to that milestone

Great win as Carse was magnificent and I'm just about to watch the ceremony so hope he gets MOTM.

Brook innings was defining though for 5 very massive reasons. So could we share the MOTM round for them drops

Just got a pissed off mate in the run up to the test 2 or 3 posters taking the piss out of this regime when they deserve better.

Plenty make good points about adapting approach correctly and that they should have a better game management approach at times which is more than fair.

Where others (small minority) which post was aimed at take the piss and mock them, even a times suggesting they don’t care, which is nonsense as Stokes as fierce competitor as there is!

As I have said numerous times to you mate, you make good points and there is a room for improvement in decisions in games.

Get that and more than accept that.

Post was aimed at the piss takers (not you)

There is very much a chance there will lose the next match as there play incredibly positively and ‘ risk losing to win’

I will take that, more than take that

Fair enough then

But this wasn't the test to go all in on our approach is magnificent.

I watched every ball of the test.

We bowled shit in the first innings I dunno how New Zealand were 8 down at the end of day 1. They left a boat load of runs out there but it's the value of taking catches. We took ours and they didn't.

On another day they post 500 and we're all out for 200 and we lose heavily.

But cricket is a game where you take the luck you get and perform in-between those periods which we definitely did.

Maybe so, but your moral high ground is no through the floor.

Exactly mate totally get that, this team plays risk cricket, but it’s winning entertaining cricket.

And I am in for the ride, and enjoying watching England play test more than I ever have in my lifetime and I am in my mid fifties.

I am more than happy to accept the some losses for the more wins and entertainment on show.

I have bought totally into the philosophy of Stokes and McCullum and accept some good points by posters about game management been better at times but not the piss taking by 1 or 2.

It’s not about that mate I more than accept sometimes this team will lose with this risky approach it’s inevitable.

They may well lose the next test match

Just think what McCullum and Stokes have done for English test cricket deserve better than some of the comments I see at times by the odd poster

You can't just enjoy an England win without having digs at other posters who have a differing opinion. Mental
