1st TEST :: New Zealand v England


A disappointing day.

Only saw the first session and it looked then as if NZ were heading for 400. Looks like we did get back into it but we seem to have let them off the hook again.

We didn't bowl well in the first session. But New Zealand threw away all their wickets they should have been 3/4 down at COP. Wicket been far flatter than I expected.

Need to finish them off quickly this evening. But easier said than done.

Set to be colder so might be harder to bat, who knows.

Not at all, mistakes apart from Smith. But Leach wouldn't have taken them wickets as he doesn't bowl the attacking line Bashir does. Was very much a Nathan Lyon like effort in that on a wicket doing nothing and not particularly bowling well picks up a bag of wickets.

Bash got a lot of unfair stick in the summer and in Pakistan imho, he's young and just starting out.
 
Disappointing with the ball but managed to pull it back a bit with 5 wickets in the last session.
The seamers were poor and Woakes in particular continues to show he can't take wickets away from home.
 
Too many when you insert and I’m praying we don’t let the last two wickets add another 40 or so

Still need to see England bat to definitely confirm the insert decision was wrong

And thank god for Shoaib who is rapidly becoming my number one spinner after Dom Bess
