*~*~* Sunderland v West Brom match thread *~*~*

Take the positive's. We're on quite an unbeaten run and we we'e never getting beat. Need som options off the bench. paper thin going forward. Even fit and on form we.should just be relying on Mundle and Roberts. Go get.some help

Exactly. We were by far the better team, all game. We've had some less than perfect results lately, but tonight's performance is not one to be slagged off. We had the chances to win easily, against a team who (are top 6 contenders) came here with no intention of even attempting to win the game.
Their defenders are all big solid defenders, but thats it. When they were forced to play the ball they were pretty poor.

Not many teams press as well as Sunderland - well impressive.
West Brom came for the point - sat back.
Sunderland desperately need that out and out goalscorer.
Roberts doesn’t have a right foot thus comes inside every time.
If only you had someone down the right that could beat the defence tonight reckon you would have won.
Considering some big lads at the back those corners were wasted.

Some quality in that side and should make the play offs.
Not that far away from a real decent side only need a couple more.

We had some good chances and a few times they got lucky cutting out a quick pass or us being a toe end away from getting onto a square ball,

TBF West Brom played well. We've seen similar performances away from home from ourselves, grinding out points away from home.
They nearly nicked it as well when Ballard cleared it off the line. It was a very professional performance from them

You know what, you’re right. I submit. He created loads and they barely coped with him. That one ball cleared under no pressure from anyone in red and white should have guaranteed him 90 minutes.

Happy?
Did anyone create loads? Did anyone stretch them? NO.

Was Watson one of our better attacking players? Yes.

Does he have to work on his defensive play? Also yes.

Let's face it though we haven't played class football all season, nowhere near the exciting stuff we played under Mowbray. Even before this crap run these last few weeks we were not winning convincingly. We've maybe dominated 2 wins all season.

Now our goals have dried up a bit, especially with Mundle out, we aren't scraping wins. Teams who get automatic promotion have goals, depth, experience, I think we are lacking in all three right now. I mean when was the last time the youngest team in the league gained automatic promotion? It would be quite the feat.

We have to sign some experience at this level in January, stop signing injured players, stop signing young foreigners who won't make an impact. Hopefully we can get another premier league loan winger to replace Roberts, we need more threat from the right wing. We definitely need an experienced holding midfielder to pull the strings and set the pace.
We are not good enough

We played very well overall ... Apart from our play in the box. Our finishing / set plays / corners / shooting is very poor . Job for the coaches to work on.
