Forthcoming gigs.

Skids this Thursday at the Wylam Brewery..anyone been??..i've heard there's not much parking at the actual brewery and it's bit of a clart on to get to if you're not nearby??
Been 2 or 3 times. Never with car though it's a good 15 minute walk from Haymarket, up Claremont Road. North Terrace is probably nearest pub, further up Claremont

Aye, don't think you can park on the site, so Claremont Road is nearest parking. Seen Wilko Johnson there and Big Country though bit out the way as a venue

I went to the Hackney gig unsure how well it would work but as soon as it kicked off it had a magical feel. It had the spirit, attitude and sound with guest performers who added something of themselves whilst honouring the band and Shane..This is a bigger scale but I think they'll carry it off.
I’m hoping that bouncy lass from Goat Girl is on bass. She was hypnotic.
Seen a BBC Breakfast interview & there’s a couple of Lankum in the “house band”.

Is it the type of thing Lankum would be support for?

Saw For The Love of Shane MacGowan in the summer. Obviously it’s not Shane, but the songs, as you say, are magical.

Porridge Radio tonight at Marble Factory in Bristol, absolutely freezing but the band were brilliant third time seeing them. Dana Margolin always delivers a fantastic performance. Sang Born Confused for what she said was the third time ever live, she sang it at the Exchange a few years back- Bristol connection with ex I believe. Anyway would recommend them if playing nearby.

I was in Leeds this evening to see Within Temptation supported by Annisokay. Great gig.

Back on Saturday to take my wee sister to see Zayn.

Also recommend Gurriers - amazing at the Louisiana in Bristol. Young and old in a mini mosh pit - capacity is only 140. They are playing venues far too small for them on this tour, genuine ,great musicians making a tremendous racket. Had earplugs and ears still singing the next day.

Free parking after 6pm just off Central motorway at Claremont road car park. 10 minute March through the park and you are there. Been to a few gigs at the brewery and enjoyed them. By myself couple of times and no issues walking back to car, lots of people about

I’ll be surprised if there is any support for the shows as it will be something of a feat of organisation to bring it all together with the various vocalists.
A couple of the Mary Wallopers are involved with the Dublin show as well.

Aye, good point.

Tickets acquired. Although feels a bit wrong calling them the Pogues when Shane’s not here.

Wh lung were great last night. Small venue really helped the band and the atmosphere with the singer walking into the crowd and even sitting on the bar at one point. Great night and loved Cluny 2 on my first visit.

Seems a weird set up in there ,seats at back but then standing area in front ? Seats are raised a bit but some are floor level

I also acquired my ticket this morning. I’m OK with using the name with the original members who wish to continue the band and they are celebrating the 40th anniversary of one of The Pogues albums.

Got tickets for Brixton.
The Deadlians supported at Hackney, their singer Sean Fitzgerald sang Muirshin Durkin at the show. Daragh Lynch of Lankum was a guest vocalist at Hackney and I think he and Ian are in the Dublin line up. Lankum won't be support if there is one.

They toured as The Pogues without Shane - I saw them with Joe Strummer. They were careful not to declare the Hackney show a Pogues gig but I imagine a tour with some bigger venues would pretty much require the name for commercial reasons. Jem, Spider and James were there at the start with Shane, Andrew (COPD and not well enough) with only Cait not involved (she has done U.S. gigs with Spider in recent years so a little surprised she appears to have no role). People can view the Hackney gig online so can get sn idea of how it is likely to be. They won't dishonour the band's name that's for sure.

Obviously they want to earn money, they need to pay the bills, so I completely get the reason for the Pogues tour.

I also get the feeling this wouldn’t have happened if Shane was still alive. They couldnt have done this tour with him here, but very unwell. It’s like him gone is a line drawn under it & they’ve got permission.

Luckily they’ve hit 40th anniversary’s of releases. IISFFGWG could be on the card for 2027?

Only discovered the Deadlians recently & couldn’t work out if they were active or not. They’re great.

Whilst Shane will always be the Pogues frontman, there’s not many, if any that could step into his shoes other than Strummer. I’m sure there will have been Pogues purists out there not happy, it’s a pretty small list of proper legends that could pull it off.

That was Buddy Guy's trick - we saw him at the Muffathalle, Munich about the turn of the century, he brought his guitar up the bar (it had a long amp lead) at he back, asked if the beer was any good, took a few sips and after a good few minutes disappeared back into the crowd.
