*~*~* Preston v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

I really worry if we don't win this one, we're going to go on a bit of an out-of-form run. The Oxford game aside, quite a few poor performances in a row now.

Could we hook browne and connolly, go 3 at the back with ballard coming in, then switch watson to the left and bring roberts on the right. Fullbacks push up and let the wingers cut inside?

The one positive id take from that half is there's been 3 or 4 times we'd have won the ball and been in on goal if we get our press. Woodman has played several poor balls out.

Those saying we look constantly poor bare in mind this ends a run of 4 away games in 5 matches played. Horses for courses... not many teams go away from home and blow teams away regularly. In fact we have the best away form in the entire division so that proves that. We are probably bit fatigued watching us set up as the away team, keeping it tight etc - but thought it's worth noting we have had an obscene run of away games which compounds it.
There's blowing teams away then there's competing at a level

Connelly off Roberts on Right, Watson on left, Isodor down the middle. Sorted.

Watson has had a few lively moments but definitely not comfortable on the right.

Probably need more physicality than Connolly today but he could have scored too.

Would get Pat on for sure, think that balance is needed.

Preston are onto us straight away, more physical than us, so we've rarely had the space. We've gone a bit too direct clearing our lines though. I've no problem with playing over the press but we've not been able to win the ball or get onto it often enough further up the pitch.

We've also let them in too easily too often. Preston have been quite aggressive going forward and there's times when they've gone straight down our left barely being challenged and a few times had their left winger had any composure we'd have suffered.

Need to improve in most areas second half if we want to come away with anything.
We usually struggling playing to direct but have been impressed with how good they have been playing past the press ... But it's like they aren't trying that much
