West Indies v England: ODI Series

That’s t20
Yeah I get the logic more sense in T20 side then 50 over.

But it only seems like a few years ago when he was playing for Somerset he regularly batted 10 or 11 in all formats including T20

He has a few hits for Surrey where is strike rate is really good and all over a sudden he is a specialist bat for a England international side at number 8 it’s wrong thinking imo

Wasn’t that long ago Steve Smith batted 8 and bowled leg spin mind

That was 13/14 years ago now!
And he was early 20s, so had time! Overton is 30 with not as much time to grow and improve. I’m struggling to see how the selection of Overton at 8 and not bowling can be justified at all, even in t20s.

But if he isn’t bowling we can easily shot an extra batsman in and drop everyone down in the order, meaning Curran would be in a slightly more suitable number 7.

I was getting married in Antigua this time 3 years ago. I was back in the same digs again this time last year. I know one year the team were staying in the same place, St James Club.

We're calling in on a cruise in mid December. Never caught the cricket yet! Mind I would imagine they might whop the prices up.

We've been driven past the stadium each time we've been. Looks very canny.

The selection of this squad is an insult to the WEst Indies team and the followers of both teams. The selectors are treating all of the above with contempt. Breathtakingly arrogant by the selectors.
Not often I slag off the England set up but in this case I totally agree

And that last bit is exactly what we should do.

The big question has got to be - what is the f*cking point of this tour?

We were there for an identical tour less than 11 months ago. If the administrators want to kill interest in international cricket, this is how to do it. I genuinely couldn’t give a toss how this plays out, I didn’t even know it was on yesterday until England were 16 overs or so into their innings.

I have literally just discovered that England were playing today. Also, who is John Turner?
He's been in a few squads now. Not sure why we've not picked him before.

An average under 20 in all formats for Hampshire. Another South African we've claimed.

I don't understand why the England selectors seem to have developed this fascination of packing the white ball side full of bits and pieces cricketers. This year the likes of Hain, Banton and even Vince have had good white ball records yet they are nowhere near the side while you have them picking Overton solely to bat at 8 with no specialist batsmen in the squad. It seems like they have completely forgot that a strong batting lineup was a key reason behind our white ball success under Morgan.
