1st TEST :: New Zealand v England

Should be supporting the team, not calling for people to be dropped
Just saying I think he should be dropped mate for the better of the team.

Don’t think he a f***ing prick or hate him;)

Nowt like that, just a opinion what best for the team

You more than intelligent enough to know the difference between the two, you better than that trying to be clever

Bethell getting called up as the spare batter to cover Smith leaving. Another one picked not for what he’s doing at CC level.
So if Cox can't keep in all 3, Pope gets the gloves and has to bat 3.

Genius thinking from the brains trust behind the England team.

Sick of this stupid left field clever selections he’s literally done nothing in first class cricket.

Looked totally unconvincing in the 50 over games he’s played. Almost as though county cricket means nothing anymore just a weird selection.

It doesn't. Key and McCullum said as much in the summer. They view the CC as an irrelevance to Test cricket.

I can understand that to a point, but it's the only yardstick available really. Might as well have a look at Minor Counties championship to see if there's anyone who plays off less than a handicap of 6.5.

The thing that makes no sense is that over that is apart from Crawley their batting picks in Duckett, Pope, Brook, Smith and Cox all have good CC records.

It's been the bowling where they've taken a punt. Bethell falls in the punt category.

It also makes no sense due to the fact it really should be a backup keeper batsman.

Sibley, Burns and Hameed for that matter had better CC averages than Duckett and Crawley iirc, yet the former two have done miles better.

Jamie Smith although had started well in the CC did not have loads of experience and stats behind him

It’s a different test, playing test cricket than CC, as the last two away series has proved and even at home the jump is massive.

It’s up to Key, McCullum to select his players who could make the jump, some they will get right some wrong.

But quite a few of the CC batsman at the top of the averages are players that have failed already at international level.

There is no real stand out players and batters therefore hence the look for a bit more left sided selections

Bethall looked like a rabbit in the headlights in 50 overs he’s has a very tight grip on the bat it’s a total punt don’t think his technique is up to test cricket from what I have seen.
