Id rather no pay deal and have a job Legally there is no right to a pay rise unless it's stated in an employment contract.
If you've been here 37 years your probably one of the gaffers stealing a wage doing nowt !!!!! You don't need the money but others do and that's why it's essential for the lower earners and new starters to get a competitive wage.

If he’s been here that long he should know by now every pay deal they push the doom and gloom and almost every time once the deals are done there’s all of a sudden good news

IMO the only reason there isn’t a pay freeze, is they’re going to need to change the stand down criteria. They’ll want to call a shed load more with a much bigger time scale to have them paid back in return for a pay deal.

They didn’t use the Covid stand downs as part of the last pay deal so why would they now.

This is different back then there was no competition from china. Now its a different world thats why usa is tryiing to put 100% tax on Chinese cars. China is fighting back before that happens by importing thousands of cars before it comes out

Need 27000 cars out of build cant sell cars usa is f##ked china dont want legacy brands and russia is no go worlds a different place now

They don't really need to find another way at all. For the workers they should but there's no 'need' about it when it comes to actual business decisions from top brass.
They do need to find another way but unfortunately there isn’t one. They do say the same stuff every pay negs with the doom and gloom but this is completely new to them as the industry is completely changing and the worrying thing is this is only a transition into hybrids at the minute. The s**t will hit the fan completely in a couple of year when they start the shift to 100% electric.

Or people would rather go and work ina
Call centre sat at a desk or stack shelves at Asda for a similar wage , they can already see the amount of people that have left for different jobs recently Nobody’s going to want to work there if they are not careful

My 1st pay rise at Nissan was 25% over 2 years in the 80's...
Not quite as good as it sounds though as inflation was 15% then 10% and thats what we got...
Having said that in the 80's it was good money compared to the average wage in the North East.
After that rise was when they really started the "Doom and Gloom" just before any negs for years and people fell for it.
Eventually one year funnily enough when the votes were externally audited for the 1st time it was a NO..!!!
And even though Dodgy said "Where the f*** am I going to get £2 million from in the middle of f****** winter" and dragged it out another 3 months until the new tax year,
We eventually got 50% more than the 1st offer. As I said to the lads and lasses at the time its like Dr Pepper, what's the worst that could happen... :)
But as mentioned above the total balls up about electrification is causing car manufacturers a lot of genuine issues..
And BMW, FIAT and Ford amongst others want the 2035 ban stopped never mind the silly 2030 one in the UK which will NOT work..
While I miss the crack of the pay negs I am glad I am not relying on them any more.
Having said that you will still get a bigger rise than me, think I got another £10 a month on my Nissan pension this year and thats one of the original half decent ones,
God knows what the yearly rise on DC pensions will be..
Good luck anyway, and just remember they have been saying it would close since the 80's but as always with Nissan they always find a way to "Just De It"...👍

They’ve been finding loads of used condoms done by the toilets next to the main office apparently, investigating it
Two lads sacked (TT and NH, if you know). More condoms found by the smoking shelter. Originally thought to be a prank but a couple of them were used…

BG gone today for the condom stunt now, 2 more under investigation and “used” (told its icing cream) found in the gents down by the senior managers
