Cassie does that and often wags her tail at the same time, but as she lies on her side when asleep, the tail bangs on the floor a bit like playing a drum.Normally accompanied by tiny little high pitched barks and twitching nose and lips.

What I won't do is try and stop him from being what he was born to be. A Working Cocker.
All of his training has been tailored around that. That's what he loves to be. And he is very, very good at being him.
Vet visits and cuts and injuries are an inevitable consequence.
I can't, or won't, stop him from being him.

The best and only way to do it, a dog has a personality so wants to do what he knows & prefers. If you (or anyone) tried to alter that the dog would be unhappy and it would be noticeable. All any of us can do is run a life around a dog to get the best from & for him/her, and yes there are sometimes consequences but they have to be semi-expected as a dog owner.
Anyone that attempts to prevent a dog from being itself should not have taken it into their life.
