Dogs of The SMB.

My nearest neighbour has a golden lab. Jack.
Real character. Often comes across the river into our garden to see and play with Bobs.
My neighbour told me he caught him with a rancid decomposing heron a couple of weeks ago, and chased him all around the field to get it off him. 🤣

Ben was the only one out of the four that would do that.
Used to make me want to throw up. Even if you got near you wouldn’t want to take it off of him 🤣🤣
Problem was he thought it was a great game.
Partly my fault as I trained him to growl at the broom, his party trick.
Daft Labrador Syndrome 🤣
Despite this he wanted a cuddle and had more washes and shampoos than all my others put together and more 🤣

we had a chocolate lab when I was growing up and he was the greediest thing I've ever seen. was the runt and think that played it's part too as well as being a lab.

he once somehow managed to grab an unopened family pack of crisps from the back of the bench overnight. he'd always try and nab things he could reach so this was right at the back and considered safe, and he was getting on so I imagine he spent ours trying to get it.

absolute carnage the next morning as he'd eaten about 30 packets of crisps overnight, drank every drop of his water and as a result pissed and threw up all over the kitchen.

same lad once managed to get hold of my sister's handbag which had an apple in it left from earlier the day, got that when him that as well as a sleeve of paracetamol. Had to have his stomach pumped as every homemade vomiting up remedy the vets suggested he'd lap up and beg for more.

somehow made it to 15.
My cross lab was a nightmare for food. He got to where he would not get stuff of the benches but for a good while would raid the bins. If he could eat literally anything when out, he would. He also loved plums. We have a few plum trees that overhang the garden which we couldn't (and probably would not have) cut down, but cover the garden in hundreds of plums every year.

One time when we were out the stuff he had eaten him affected him and give him the runs. There was something knocked off the living room windowsill so I think he had looked to see if that was a way out, then he found that a room upstairs was being redecorated and still had a paper liner which had been under the old carpet on the floor. He crapped all over the paper. Nice and handy, hold my nose, fold it all up and stuff in a bin bag and open the windows, job done.

But then he got into his head that if we went out and he was poorly, that was the place to go. It was being redecorated as a nursery and we put in a fairly expensive, longish pile really soft carpet. By far the best quality carpet in the house. Thankfully it always did clean up well but we had to try and remember to close that door all the time.

Or perhaps he thought it always smells of baby shit so that is the place to go.

Re: Longer pile carpets: I was convinced it was the grass-like feeling around their feet - so fair game drop one (not me the dog) because ours were always encouraged when on grass to do it so basically we created our own problem. Unless it was the wife's masterplan to get a new carpet or rug. ;)

Its always a laugh when you start making any noise to do with food preparation, along he comes and pops himself in his particular spot in the kitchen corner so he can see if anything drops.
My dog seems to like peeping around things. If you are in the kitchen, he will just crane his neck around the door. If he wants to check on the kids, he never goes directly into their bedroom first, he always peeps around the corner.

The main bit of kitchen bench we use for food prep is empty underneath with a pole supporting it at one end. If he does come in the kitchen, he will go under the bench and then wrap himself around the pole.

Well until he gets tired of that and then just sprawls out in the middle of the kitchen floor, taking up as much space as possible. He will lie flat and refuse to move, unless you are stepping over him carrying something and then the head comes up half way. I'm amazed he has never had something really hot dripped on him.

We have floor length white muslin curtains in the lounge in the summer, and he likes to lie underneath them. If he wakes up and lifts his head up, the curtains drape over his head and he looks like a f***ing nun.🤣

Bad dad alert. Had an hours spare time at work so popped back to walk the dogs. Got a text mid walk asking if Colin’s on way for his grooming appointment, completely forgot about it. Ran down with them (about a mile) Colin bloody loved it, my 11 year old lurcher not so much😂 that’s him on the couch for the night.

Hmm, a rare example of the Snecky Pole Dancing Sprawling-Peeper dog breed

We left Cassie for 2 weeks with a sister in law last year, and we had only had her 9 months. The last couple of days of the holiday dragged and we both couldn’t wait to see her. When we did she ran straight past the wife to me, and I am not afraid to say, there were a couple of tears in my eyes.
We go away again in 4 weeks!

Just had this sent today off the Son who's looking after him while we are away

It looks like he is enjoying his holiday as well.
This is how we spend every evening now, I am sitting on the recliner and she is lying on me. I had the phone at my chin when taking the photo.
