Boro thread

I got on at Seaton Carew for Sheff W, there was quite a few on already. Early train.

Those who get on this train would you still use it for Boro match? Or wiser to make alternative plans?
That’s what I want to know, will no doubt be at my lasses so will be getting on at horden. Just so easier getting the train than walking into Peterlee for the bus.

depends on what you class as Teesside, I live in a County Durham pit village but my post code is TS, where I live its 70% sunderland fans 30% split mags and boro

the villages around me and are majority Sunderland and all have TS postcodes.
Yeah it's just how areas were 'split up' for postal districts I think.
I know the Trimdon, Fishburn, Sedgefield and Wingate areas have TS postcodes but wouldn't be classed as Teesside.
Similarly the likes of Ferryhill and Spennymoor are closer to Durham (and in County Durham) yet have a Darlington postcode.

Agree that it's a weird thing to go on about, like I said people support whoever they support - it really doesn't matter.
Obviously you will know of Sunderland fans on Teesside (being one yourself ?), all I'm saying is that i dont know of many Sunderland fans in the central Stockton area, but know there's more as you go further north (Billingham etc).

It just seems a weird thing to try to 'point score' over.
Some folk live away from the weirside area but support Sunderland - similarly I know of quite a few Boro fans in County Durham (including myself).
Does any of it really matter?
"Similarly" would be a few Boro supporters in Ryhope - and a sizeable amount of Boro supporters, maybe 2-8%? In Seaham or Houghton. To be anything like the same proportion.

Not seen any boro in my years in houghton mind, way too many smelly pretendy mags though which are in the rise since the beheaddies took over.

The real problem is that on the per head basis the Riverside’s capacity of 68,482 dwarves the Stadium of Light capacity of 48,707.

The Riverside even has a significantly greater capacity than Sid James on this basis

Gibson simply being too grandiose in building his new ground and not taking everything into account

Pity it's bums on seats not heads that are counted. So Boro only need about a 30k seater maximum 😉

Brought up in Stockton and have worked there for years.
Hardly know any Sunderland fans there.
A train load (2 carriages?) hardly means 'loads'.

Regardless, it doesn't matter - people support.who they support.

Well I bow to your superior knowledge.
I didn't realise there was that many.
😜

Sorry.
Couldn't resist that last bit.....😜

Although it more than likely is true.
That time of year again seaham?

Lines in the sand drawn marra

Aye, it's all in jest though Gatesy - on my part anyhow.
Too old and 'life battered' to stress over who supports who and why.

It's only football ffs

Like I said, weird thing to obsess and point score about.

The current craic on there is talk of Spurs after Hayden Hackney. Boro fans wanting £25M (including Marvanelli) who I’m sure everyone will remember was laughing their tits off at us wanting that fee for Clarke!!! Nowhere near that price for me like.

As has always been proven, it doesn't matter what Boro fans "want" for a player, or what Sunderland fans "want" for a player - they go for what gets agreed between the selling/buying clubs.

Having said that, IF Spurs are after Hackney, then you'd presume he'd go for a decent amount if a top(ish) premier league club are interested.

Yep big thread on Boro board about spurs in for Hackney..can't see it so late in the window.

So the entire issue really comes down to whether we measure attendance/capacity on a per head or “bums” basis

Seems to me Boro like to pick and choose over whether to use the “per head” basis as to whichever suits their purposes
