Jack Clarke

Ok…

Hull got more for Greaves and about the same for Philogene (his buy back clause amount I believe otherwise it could have been more)
Leeds have some 4 players for much more, 2 of them being for their release clauses.
Norwich have sold Sara for more.
Watford have sold Asprilla for more and rejected a bigger bid for someone else (whose name escaped me).
Thats excluding the relegated clubs cos I thought that might be unfair.
Of that list of 8 players sold this window for more than Clarke only Summerville is better.
Waiting for the retort, will include some caveats.

It’s only a low ball offer in the eyes of our fans. In the entire world of football there’s not a single club that thinks Clarke is wiling to pay more than that. The choice was keeping a player who may be unhappy with being deprived of his choice and seeing his value drop further still.
Agreed. I know it’s very early days, but we seem to be developing a style of play that didn’t just consist of giving the ball to Clarke.

It’s not rubbish at all you start getting in their way of big moves for more money we will get a bad reputation and young players won’t want to come incase we don’t let them move on to bigger things
Like Tottenham then? Levy has always had that reputation yet they have had plenty of good young players sign for them

£15m.

Hope Speakman gets the shites on the way home from the match.
You think he's going to be there tomorrow after accepting a pittance and half a dozen Ed Sheeran concert tickets for Jack Clarke. I really hope Mundle does the business and the team are top of the league tomorrow night but I have my doubts after Speakman and KLD sold the main man to Ipswich who TBF have given the manager another major boost to keep them up.

Have read this board, listened to podcasts and read articles over last 20 hours there's no doubt about it.

Most people totally understand the sale of Clarke and were expecting it, it's actually the agreed fee that they are most bothered about.

I was about to say fair play, but isn’t the lad on Twitter the one who stated that SAFC had taken all the gate receipts from the Mags game in exchange for use of the BCB?

I think he was solid treat anything he states (which is screenshotted rather than linked) with a massive ouch of Maldon.

Couldnt understand any of that

What if he wasn’t unhappy? What if keeping him made us far more likely to get promoted? His value to us means an awful lot.
Other players, who aren’t as good, are going for more. If Ipswich don’t want to pay more tell them to get stuffed.
These players that aren’t as good clearly are in the eyes of the football world who are willing to pay money for them. No one wants Clarke for a penny more and than the fee we got. Any team could have had him any time in the last year for 20 plus million but he’s not seen in that bracket by anyone other than our fan base.
With Clarke we have failed to get promoted twice nearer relegation in one of them and I reckon the bookies will have us at about 16/1 this time. We have had him for the last 2 years and haven’t got promoted and we can’t keep a player and simply see his contract run down and his value decrease even further. It’s how we use the money and trust in the manager to produce a wining team less reliant on one player.

Afternoon beers on the way up and my lad playing up.

I think he was so I would treat anything he says with a pinch of salt.

Whey that's silly isn't it, he's not being sold for a fiver relative to his 'actual' value, is he?

I'd hope you'd kept the gaff clean anyway, as I'll have it off you for nowt in two years time.
He’s being sold for less than his value though, and that was the point.

Saying an asset is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it doesn’t mean that somebody else’s valuation is more correct than the owner of the asset, and that the owner of the asset has to accept somebody else’s valuation and give their asset up for a pittance.

We had the option to say ‘no’ to the sale, and @BarnesPark patronising people saying they don’t know anything about economics for thinking that it’s a bad deal, when it is so blatantly a bad deal, is actually what is ‘just silly’.

Eh you can’t move to a much bigger club than spurs man already made it if your there

You said stop him moving then
Listed all players that have left the championship for the prem we aren’t in a strong position because of his contract

Haway, not being patronising.

Just saying his value is dictated by the market and what people are prepared to pay.

One club wanted Jack and wanted to pay £20m so that, in reality is his value.

Had we held on another year, that would have dropped further.
