This is why I’ll never be comfortable with the model

That's totally the key. We got good money for Stewart (all things considered) and squandered it. If we bring in 2 or 3 players that improve the team selling Clarke becomes a masterstroke.

The reality is 3 teams will be promoted and 3 teams will be relegated. Every club is gambling in their own way. That is football.

We won't bring in 3 good players though will we

The model isn't too replace a star player with a new star player.
You replace them with players in the shortlist and you trust that new players in the squad emerge as the new stars.

Alex Scott is 2-3 years younger isn't he? Represented England at youth level a lot more than Clarke, and evidently clubs think he has more potential.

Winger at Norwich has gone for 18m yesr on his contract forced the move.

Just accept it mate it's a shit fee

What many fail to comprehend is that ownership is also a part of the model, indeed for the French kid, it's probably the main component.
If he grows our stature and the academy keeps producing exciting talent to flog at a profit, imagine the money he will make when he chooses to sell up.
You only have to look at all the millions Ellis Short ploughed in, and which Morecambe & Wise following tried to cash in on, but failed to see why he's treading cautiously and balancing the books.

The kid is a billionaire and the interest on his fortune is more in a couple of weeks than we sold Clarke for.

He is a cheapskate who is using our club to learn business, but all it's demonstrating is that he can't take risks.

Do you honestly believe that Speakman was the person who agreed the deal? It would have been KLD.

Demonstrably utter rubbish from you again.
I've been in KLD company, where he has openly admitted that he was lucky to have KS at the club and that he relies on him heavily.

KS's remit is the sale and acquisition of players. So yes... though I'm not saying he hasn't kept KLD in the loop.
Even if the fee is correct, and they've structure it in the way it's being reported, then it makes perfect business sense.

Spurs are entitled to a percentage of the fee, but they get nothing for the add-ons. So it makes sense to have a lower fee and higher "low bar" add-ons, like one based on appearances.
Eh? selling your prize assets for a value less than their market worth, considering some of the other transfer deals between Championship clubs and Premier league clubs.

Also considering the fact we have to replace the asset like for like (minimum), if not improving on!

We have short changed ourselves and lost our best goal scoring threat to boot.

I hate to break it to you, but our form is actually decent over our past ten games. We are 4W, 2D, 4L which would equate to a 64pt season, and we've kept six clean sheets. We coughed five goals to Blackburn but conceded only four in the other nine matches. Clarke played in nine of those games and only scored one of our 10 goals. We'll be fine. Disappointed to lose him but we will adjust.
We dropped from being in the playoffs to almost in a relegation spot. Stop cherry picking.

Accept what? I think it's a bad fee, but no one is offering us more, I think that's weird, but the footballing world is telling us no one thinks he's worth more.

Obviously the alternative would be to keep him and either accept we'll earn less in the future/lose him on a free, or hope we either get promoted/he has a change of "harte" and signs a new deal.

There's certainly nothing he has left to prove in the Championship, that would net us more next summer with one year left on his deal.

Nobody is offering more as it's soft touch fc.

Deals like this mean we don't get market value. People suggest we're getting all he is worth are mental 🤣

If it's such a bargain why aren't other premier league sides jumping all over it?

Again I'm not saying I understand it, personally I'd keep him until January and then if we're nowhere near move him on, but other clubs are telling you what they think the value is.

It's hardly a secret what the offer is and unless there's a last minute shift, no one else is interested for that price nevermind a higher one.

If the club is serious about promotion you hang on to your best player, you definitely don't sell him off on the cheap with just over a week of the transfer window remaining.

Of course you don’t.

But we know they aren’t serious about promotion.

So let's play your game. He is worth 11.2m

Do you think the club will strengthen the side with 11.2m?

In a world where Hjelde is 2m

If/when we get promoted with the young squad we have a better chance of keeping the players. We may lose some players to the bigger clubs but we wouldn’t lose Clarke to the likes of Ipswich

How do you know that? Do you know what the Spurs/ Sunderland deal says?

It seems pretty unlikely to me that a sell on obligation would be that easy to circumvent. And if it is, then we have been bloody stupid anyway, because we should’ve agreed to fee of £1 up front with all the rest coming when trivially easy conditions are met. £10m conditional on the appearance with the scarf, say.

I can understand "The Model". It doesn't mean I have to like it. If we improve as team then fine. This has yet to be proved though.

I don't know how much he was sold for.....

I'm not sure you've read my posts.

I'm not saying anything about what I think he's worth.

I'm telling you what other clubs think he's worth.

As a fan I think he's worth more than £20m, but then I don't have to worry too much about anything off the pitch.
