Jack Clarke

Exactly, hence the reason for wanting to be in the PL. Other players at the club were happy to sign extensions with pay rises, unfortunately whatever was offered to Clarke either officially or verbally wasn’t enough.
The club never wanted Clarke to stay. Who'd have paid for the strikers otherwise? Certainly not the owners.

There's a reason the club kept getting lowball offers like 11m etc. Because clubs knew it wouldn't take that much to get an accepted offer.

A few people will probably stop talking about us always getting good money under this regime now I reckon.

No the club getting lowballed was because Clarkes agent Harte was talking to a slew of clubs trying to get them to bid for Clarke. He’d have let them know he didn’t want to be here.

Also, you can’t honestly look at a club that got 10m for a crocked striker and think? “Oh aye they’ll accept a lowball offer”?

This is all to do with Clarke and Harte and you know it.

Alex Scott - Bristol to Bournemouth £25m
Adam Wharton - Blackburn to Palace £25m

Jack Clarke - Sunderland to Ipswich £15m ??

It's an embarrassingly low fee..the lad is one of the hottest properties in the league. The club have shit themselves and accepted any old offer. Soft as shite they are.
It's a f***ing woeful fee. Putting it into further context Ipswich paid £15m for Delap and £20m for Hutchinson. Neither of which are as good as Clarke.

Tough position? They must have had KLD’s pant down and shafted him up the arse for £15m. Awful deal, we’ll only see £12.4m, as I presume the add-ons will be them staying up, Clarke playing for England etc
Looking from the clubs position, what do they do? Risk his value plummeting with a potentially unhappy player. They preach being sustainable and this is the evidence of that. I’m not defending what they have done, only seeing it from their point of view.

Yes I seen that also, if it’s true I wouldn’t feel to bad about the deal.
We need to hope now that whoever comes in now can more than replace his goals.
Tbf though the way we have played under RLB so far doesn’t seem as reliant on him as under previous coaches (I’m just trying to be positive even though I’m sick😂)

We finished a handful of points above the drop zone.

Clarkes goals alone won us about 20 points didn’t they?
People keep going on about the Beale/Dodds era.

From what I’ve seen this season, we aren’t fully reliant on Clarke anymore.

Let’s see where we are come end of the season.

It will be a shame to see him go, though not unexpected. He's a quality player at this level and he carried us last season without doubt.
We are not the only club to have lost a prized asset in this league, I just hope that now we don't have to sell any more this window.

To me it makes no sense taking a low offer like that, with still a week to go, unless :-

1) they need the money now to ensure they get their current targets over the line i.e. Simic, Isodor, Mendy etc

2) they know he's definitely going so don't want to leave it to the last day and have little time to replace him as they don't see the above players as his replacements.

The third scenario is they've accepted in the hope Brentford or someone comes in to match it and it starts a bidding war.

This one hurts like Clarke has been tremendous for us soon as we were after isidor the writing was on the wall before someone says he’s a striker player just as much of he’s career on the left intact he’s scored more goals from the left

Back to Clarke the lad was fantastic for us and I’ve got a feeling a lot of this is down to Harte instigating a move obviously we can’t compete with prem wages and the attractions of the premier league but this to me is a terrible move for him but i which him all the best

The fee is be surprised if it’s only 15 million then add ons in todays market one thing speakman and kld are is quite clever with fees seen that with Stewart and lihadji

But we go again wish Clarke all the best and welcome isidor to the club he’s got some big boots to fill

You’re right mate but the issue here is that we failed to flex our wage structure to pin down one of the top performers in the league.

The lad wanted to stay but rightly wanted a wage to reflect his standing. Until the last few weeks our revised contracts were frankly embarrassing (the first offer was basically the same deal he was one).

Had we actually offered him a proper contract back in March, we wouldn’t be in this position.

Offering Neil a proper contract now needs to be an absolute priority when the window shuts

We are skint marra and Ipswich know it
I was under the impression when they first came in the model was more ‘speculate to accumulate’ than ‘sell to buy’, turns out I was wrong.

The owner doesn’t want to spend another penny of his own money. We’ll go absolutely nowhere under his ownership.

This is only the first stage of it all. Still have to deal with some god awful announcement video, then him making his debut.

Effectively this is just the break up, need to prepare for watching him off with someone else 🥲🥲🥲🥲

Fully expected him to go. Harte trying to get a payday from his star client. Ipswich will be ideal for Harte if they get relegated he'll be on the hunt for another move and payday.

But for 15m plus add ones to Ipswich is absolutely terrible considering Spurs get money. Absolutely pathetic.

Thing is mate, how skint are we if we need £11.25m from Clarke to fund about £6-7m of signings?

Main differences in thinking.

The club is underestimating the likely hood of promotion but overestimating their chances of replacing 40 goal contributions in transfer market.

Fans are vice versa

It wouldn't plummet. We'd be able to get pretty much the same fee in 12 months given how cheaply we've let him go for.
