Jack Clarke

That massive club in east anglia paid more money for Broadhead than we could offer, paid Keifer Moore more than we would & have now bought probably our best player for £15m - they are in the PL (probably will get relegated but with parachute money) as I’ve said on another thread it’s all about ambition & we’ve had none for over the 50 years I’ve been watching us that is the way it is.

Clearly the plan all along not a single penny spent all summer then sell our best player under market value and now we might actually pay fees.

Zero ambition from our pound shop owner but we are sustaining our championship existence so there’s that to be thankful for utter joke.
Just said on the other thread that they have been desperate to sell and he will have wanted to go.

They haven't signed any strikers until he goes because we needed the money. He hasn't been on 1 picture of the 3 new kits.

They've accepted this as times running out and it's the only bid.

Well and truly gutted about this, it feels like the season has ended before it's even began. Shows the club had no intention of keeping him and have no real ambition of gaining promotion. We are being run purely as a business and not a very good one because this is an utterly pathetic transfer fee in the current market. Totally gutted and deflated.

But sell him at he’s market value not £10 million less we might never get any money off the add ons. We new we had no money to spend

Never forget that Ipswich got promoted from league one, leap frogged us into the premier league and have now poached our best player. Farcical.
Leaves a really bad taste in the mouth this. For 15 million of which Spurs will get 3 - our season has been totally derailed.

2 hours ago you were saying Harte was the main culprit, now you're blaming the club.

Obvious as daylight Harte has verbally agreed a pay package with Ipswich with a more significant agent fee package, told Jack about it and he's gone to the club and put a transfer request in. At that point you don't want to keep a player in the dressing room who doesn't want to be there hence the less than expected fee.
Sorry that doesn't make sense. If someone wants out you still try to get what they're worth .

Never understood why fans care about football finances. Not my money, and I don’t believe it will all be invested back in the team.

Good luck to a lad who genuinely made me happy watching him. Hope he gets paid for a fortune, rips up the PL and deservedly earns an England call up.

Not many Sunderland players in my lifetime can deservedly be called talismanic, but Clarke very much was that.

Unsurprised, but of course sorely disappointed to see him go.

Haha 257 pages and thousands of our lot are still in kip blissfully unaware of what’s happened, there will be some meltdown kicking off on here in a couple of hours 😁😁😁

Isidor and Simic were probably done and dusted yesterday on the back of us knowing that Clarke was away, but I reckon they’ve held off announcing them until today in order to ‘soften the blow’.

I bet we get a scarfing pic of at least one of them today.

On a personal emotive level, this is gutting. Loved watching him play, for me he's the best player in the Championship and has been for the last two seasons.

On a more logical level, this is how the league operates unfortunately. Completely unprofitable so if you don't sell players or get promoted fast enough you end up in a spiral of transfer bans and points deductions, hence half a dozen of the biggest teams in the league (Leeds, Sheffield United, Burnley, Blackburn, Norwich, now us) having to sell their best players.

I'm cautiously optimistic someone may step up, I don't think many of us predicted Clarke would be anywhere near as good as he is off the back of his League One season, someone could surprise us. Just based off the first two games we're also not quite as reliant as we were on him last season, but we need Roberts to be more productive and have our midfield trio continue to be excellent to make sure that holds out as true.

been made mugs of again. Doesn’t matter if he wants to go, you don’t sell you biggest asset who was also one of the best players in the league statistically for half his value.

The higher ups have no idea what they are doing and we’ve had our pants pulled down.

Good luck to jack, he’ll be on 10x the wage he was here and will do well in the prem

Mind we done the same to Southampton regarding LND maybe a bit of karma

I'm absolutely gutted waking up to this

Keep the faith though, Poveda will come good and 2 strikers in

Clarke does not define our football club and financially we need to be sustainable

Ipswich are spending stupid money which is a big risk financially considering they'll be back down this season

Ipswich man!!! I lived there. Pure tinpot

I have no problem with him leaving on two conditions:

1. We play hardball with the fee and don’t accept anything less than £25-£30 million.

2. We sign a quality, first-team ready replacement before next Friday’s deadline and use the majority of the remaining fee to improve key positions.

The first condition I have no doubt we will do given the club’s record. The second, I’m not so sure! 🙄
Seems like I was wrong and my faith in them playing hardball over the fee was misplaced! 🙈

I hope this transfer finally puts to bed the argument that players have ambitions and want to play in the big league, yes it’s the Premier League, but how long will they be there for, how successful will they be?
Clarke and his agent have moved him on for one reason and one reason only and we all know what that is.
F#cking Ipswich Town man, how less ambitious can you get.

You get them out asap. It doesn't matter who it is or how much they're worth, no player is bigger than the club, if he's kept and if he's highly influential in the dressing room he then has the ability to cause negativity and disrupt the harmony in the group.

Holding someone ransom very often backfires in modern day football. That's why Pep shipped out the likes of Cole Palmer and Julian Alvarez the moment they said they don't want to be around anymore.
