Jack Clarke

We should hire our own shit stirring agent to combat Harte’s leaks, to dissuade people from signing Clarke:

Report correct – Jack Clarke reportedly kicked door in of training ground cafe, pulled out his cock, and started to helicopter it whilst screaming “I’m not f***ing leaving”. Reports suggest the 23-year old then slapped his cock vigorously against his upper leg before shouting “Sunderland til I thigh”, leaving some members of club enthused, but also bewildered.

Gerrin!

I think if we go out and beat Burnley this weekend that should change our valuation of him.

3 wins out of 3 with 1 of them being against maybe the best team in the league should show we actually stand a chance of going up this season.

Id look at that and say ok we will let him leave but only for silly money. That for me would be £30m + all in.

Said it last week. At this moment in time he’s irreplaceable. 15m or 25m, makes no odds.

We have nobody in our squad who can do what he does.

And as for replacing him? Where do they start.
I'd imagine the risk assessment for keeping or replacing him was done months ago.

For fans it would be devastating if he goes because he's not only very effective, he's entertaining.

Managers have to be pragmatic and realistic and adaptable though. We will have to find another way of playing. One where we harness the whole team and to not just rely on a Clarke wonder goal or assist. Of course this rely on investment and all of the signs are that this time we will invest.

Unless we get a stupid offer it doesn’t make sense to sell now. What’s been reported is lowball compared to other fees for similar players.

New deal with a reasonable release clause if we don’t go up would give us one more run at promotion, retain his value and give him assurance we won’t hold him back next summer if we are still in the championship.

Good question - I swore I'd seen it reported. I see a lot of references to it around the Leeds interest but nothing from any official sources, just from the same sources that were reporting Leeds' interest.

I can’t imagine the club would ever make that explicitly known. A serious offer of £15-20m would always get their attention like. Even more so now his contract end is in sight

This

I believe the lad they're getting from Russia is the replacement and the club and RLB know that. Don't think this is all as sudden as it might seem

I can understand Jack wanting to play in the Premier League but obviously it needs to be at a club he fancies playing for in an area he is happy to live.

The idea that Mendy’s club are trying to attract Saudi interest is pointless if, like the majority of people, the lad is not remotely interested in playing in a nothing league in an unattractive country just for more money.

If we knew what funds we had available for transfers, we'd be in a better position to judge whether selling Clarke absolutely has to happen, or whether we can turn down all offers with the intention going for promotion.

We don't know that and nor should we, but we surely do know what represents a derisory offer and £15m represents approximately half of Clarke's value imho.

If we lose him, I'll be gutted, but not if he wants the move AND we get to dollar and reinvest it.

I do not think we will implode without him, but we would certainly have to play in a different way.

Rumours aside, because that's all we have, frankly. Speakman/KLD will be looking at a decision - they either need to accept an offer that they feel meets their valuation of the player(including any sell-ons and other fees owed to other clubs) or they need to risk Clarke losing value as he nears the end of his contract. It's really that simple, it is a business. Now, there has been nothing outside of a few tweets and RLB saying "It's a possibility" to indicate that there is any movement.

Extenuating circumstances here being that we could make a go at promotion, in which case, we'd likely be able to pay him ourselves OR that he has agreed a contract on the condition that no club that he wants to go to comes in with an offer for him this window(or a club offering a wage he'd leave for).

There's clearly peanuts available as it stands.
