Jack Clarke

No chance, incredible risk for both parties.

Imagine a player breaks his leg and is out for 9 months, all risk no new contract.

There would be no incentive to invest and nurture academy players for clubs.

Also, there’d need to be a break point in unison across the football world for this to work where everyone adopts 1 year contracts, irrespective of financial outlay.

If anything, contracts will get longer see Chelsea as an example.
Players hate signing 1 year contracts. Hence why players like Pritchard moved on . It gives them zero security and clubs only normally offer a 1 year contract with a built in extra 1 year extension if they want to trigger it. Again to protect themselves.

This - I think people get blinded by the Top 5% of players, the remaining 95% could be one injury away from financial jeopardy so they need security for their mortgages, family etc like a normal person.

Not from me, just talk on a Leeds forum. Probably nothing.
I’d assume most of the bottom 10 of the prem would want him but need to to show the money. Then there probably Burnley who want him for less than half his value and then Leeds who are just pissing about to appease their fans for selling everything including the canteen sink…..

Wolves were linked with him earlier, along with the likes of Brentford, Palace & Southampton.

No further stories on Clarke to either of those 4. Fuck knows where that Leeds fan has seen Clarke is off to Wolves. Just seems like a random guess.

Burnley are in for Mikey Johnson from Celtic (was on loan at West Brom last season) a right footed left winger so that probably rules out Clarke going there

Given how the Loch Ness transfer panned out I strongly suspect that while we have a valuation we'd sell at, other clubs have pretty much no idea what it is. I think the £25-30m being touted is likely well short, and if we do sell it'll be in the £60-80m region.
Don't think he'll leave this summer myself.

You think we would be aiming to £60m for him?!

I love your optimism but I can’t see us turning down even half that amount

£10 for a crocked Ross Stewart with 12m left is more bizarre. Have you seen what English players go for? And noticed we have the subtle clout to keep Ballard, Rigg, Jobe ticking on....
Hello deluded world of rtg
We shall see

I don't think we'll sell cos I don't think anyone will come near our valuation

Nobody will pay £60m for a player who failed at every club he played for apart from us and Leeds.

The Stewart figure was good in hindsight, but if he had stayed fit and played for them like he did us, then it would have been a bargain.

"Failing" at Tottenham when you're 20 is hardly a black mark. If you listen to folk outside the club he's pretty much considered the best player in the league.
I think you're right and no-one will pay, but I don't think there's the desperation to sell some assume either.

Oh agreed, we don’t want to sell, but I think an offer of £30m will be too much to turn down.

As for failing at spurs, he went out on failed loans and didn’t get a sniff of first team football really. He only ever made 3 appearances for them.

As for failing at spurs, he went out on god knows how many loans and didn’t get a sniff of first team football really. He only ever made 3 appearances for them.
Only had 4 loans totalling less than 50 games

At the time I bet you'd have taken 6/7m for RS though, yeh?
I know we have to balance the books but I don't think folk appreciate quite how OK we are when it comes to finance, we will sell but we have absolutely no pressure to do it quickly.
