+++ West Ham v Aston Villa kick off 1730 Sky Sports Main Event Sky Sports Premier League Sky Sports Ultra HDR +++

VAR backing the ref, even when he's wrong. Why not just ask him to reconsider his decision? Or tell him he's wrong. Perhaps it's a West'am thing.

I've not seen it. I'm guessing it's one of them where the attacker is running through and the defender gets the slightest touch but not enough to dispossess the attacker and the attacker goes over under the challenge?

Dunno why but I just don’t like watching West Ham. Dunno if that stadiums got owt to do with it. I’ve always thought Villa were a proper club so hope they win.
I’m not watching it btw.

You couldn’t be more incorrect.

Been to see them at the London Stadium. Atmosphere is up there with the worst in the country.

Are people missing when the commentators are saying they've raised the bar for Clear & Obvious and back to being for obvious howlers?

What they're trying to do is leave the game as it was again and unfortunately that will just cause even more inconsistency as the 'level' will vastly inconsistent where decisions are given one week and then something even more of a foul not given the next week. They've gone full circle and more now as it started out analysing most stuff delaying the game loads so they eased it back a bit but then left stuff so VAR interfered more but now it's gone back again

It's pointless blaming VAR not getting the ref over as it's just like the old days when the ref got it wrong. They either need to bin it (which they won't) or just put the main ref in the video room to call the important decisions at a far more consistent level.

In the minority but think it was a pen meself.
As for the "getting the ball" comments, it means little as Cash touched the ball away but he hasn't got control not has he cleared it away. He comes into the back of Soucek and then got his legs wrapped up with Soucek and stops Soucek bringing his right foot forward and ends up bringing him down so impeding Soucek attempting to play the ball as the ball is clearly there to be played.

I can see why the ref gave it and due to the stupid C&O then VAR isn't overturning it. It's nowhere near as bad a decision as some are making out as the 'touch' didn't clear the ball nor did he win possession so you can't stop a player for playing the ball just because you get a toenail on the ball 🤪

The Izzy female has just said it was the right decision!! Unbelievable Jeff, guessing Sky are toeing the line this season ☹️

Why do these commentators never call it out as a diabolical decision ??
It has to be the producers in their ear surely
I admit to being baffled by what comes out of their mouths at times, it’s utter drivel, chances are that had the penalty been overturned his narrative would have been the exact opposite.

And no we’ve got Jamie Redknapp agreeing that he got his toe to the ball to divert it away (ie: a good tackle) and then says “but these are new rules and we have to live with it”
WHAT???
Why does it have to be lived with?
It was wrong. It wasn’t “controversial”…it was wrong!
Tell it like it is Sky!

Its fairly amusing since the usual suspects were constantly banging on about how it should only be used for clear and obvious. I'm with you on this one. It should be used for everything.

Ah they disagree with you so there must be an agenda.
