Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

I have to say I feel for RLB. A manger really should be able to bring in his own staff - assistant minimum and we haven’t given him any more chance of winning games than Mowbray had at this stage a year ago.
We could get promoted under RLB but he needs the players to get promoted like a striker. But you get people on here defending them all the time it’s a joke mate the club the size of Sunderland should be able to bring in a decent striker

So we know there's a decent budget then.

How does that tie in with a lack of funds?

The club does make a loss every day just by existing unfortunately.
We've been hoping for about 2 years Regis.

We did sign Rusyn and Burstow (loan) mind. Hemir and Mayenda I see as ones for the future so can understand these not being included. They all just turned out to be shit unfortunately

See, that was my question mate. I don’t know why they are defending them constantly when their decisions led to last season and a new manager lacking the tools required.
They aren’t us, they aren’t supporters of the club and we’ll all still be here long after they have gone elsewhere.
I’ll defend my club to the hilt but they aren’t it and I personally will give praise when warranted and similarly, criticism.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the first striker in as a loan. My money is on Jebbison from Bournemouth. Mendy might be 50/50 on deadline day.

Anything good is luck, anything bad is their fault. Classic.

Some people just can’t accept that they’ve done anything well. Criticism is one thing, some people are just so blinded by their hatred of the people in charge they lose any ability to take a balanced view.
They have obviously done some good things but their abject failure to bring in an effective striker for over 2 years is inexcusable and more importantly threatens to undo any good they have done.
They need to pay the bloody money for Mendy instead of hanging on hoping to get him cheaply.

I also have serious issues with their ethics if as reported they are encouraging the player to cause trouble so they can get him on the cheap.

I'll be shocked if you can find a Sunderland fan who defends the owners and Speakman when it comes to signing a ready made centre forward.

Without wanting to wade into the arguments can I just ask those who defend “the club” at all times, are you actually defending the club or those who are the current stewards of it?

Personally, I couldn’t care less who is in charge as they are transient, the club is us and always will be. All I want it the best chance to get 3 points on Saturdays. They wrote off half a season last season and have gone into this one again without a first team striker. For me, that is failing to give the manager the tools for the job and in no way giving us the best chance of results .

I don’t know why people continue to defend this. I may be called a “bedwetter”’or whatever but, as I say, I only care about SAFC having the best chance to win games. Surely that’s what we all want?

This.

Not sure wanting to win is part of their model tho, if it is their are going arse about way of achieving it.
