Likewise, why isn't the club worth that much....
Think hes 32 nowI've just had to go back to page 1 as forgot who the f... he is in truth.
He's 30 with supposedly Saudis sniffing . Ha, I thought he was a young kid.
This is not happening is it. Move on ffs
Didn't we turn down 2 bids of 7 million for Ekwah and for Trai ? thought it was reportedNot sure about £10m for Ekwah, mind
that is very serious not sure how people don't agree with nearly all of thoseJesus Christ Ha’Way man be serious
Throw a cpl of Jives in and it’ll swing it imoI wonder will we up our bid for Mendy to a packet of ALDI crisp and a Racer bar?
We invested too much in (As in too many as well as money) in young lads. You have to blend them in with a mixture of experience and signing Browne and looking to sign Mendy proves they have realised this. The question now is getting the signings over the line . I was convinced Clarke would be gone this summer but the more I see and read I think he may just stay unless it's a huge bid which can come out of the blue and late on from any team in the prem with their money so it's gonna be an interesting end to the window. It's not interesting at the minute likeThe issue is we signed Ross Stewart. So now we seem to think that's going to happen often. But it happens about once a decade.
We should be signing the next Ivan Toney or Ollie Watkins. Toney went for £5m and got Brentford promoted
Watkins signed for £2m in 2017 then was sold for £28m
Both convert to around 4-6m in today's market. So when we sold Stewart about that much should have been set aside to sign a striker. And not touched for anything else. We could be sitting here with Stansfield, or even Simms if we'd been proactive. Either could sell for more than that if they have a couple of successful seasons
£20,000,000 for 09?that is very serious not sure how people don't agree with nearly all of those![]()
It shouldn't come into the equation but there's very clearly a lot of indecision when it comes to recruiting strikers and it doesn't look like anyone at the club can spot one. Even the loans they've got in from PL clubs have been absolutely stinking, so if they can't even get a striker on loan who is even semi-useful, then you can understand why they'd be hesitant spending a chunk of the budget on a permanent one.
No-one said that?£20,000,000 for 09?
O’Nien wasn’t listed tbf.£20,000,000 for 09?
No-one said that?
I’ve read Neil as O’Nien. I need glasses.O’Nien wasn’t listed tbf.
the owner wont be making money on any of them..they might just cover the losses for another while..Any chance of keeping our better players and get rid of the shit , then adding to it with a centre floorboard. Thus being an attractive side to go along and watch .
Instead of going on about the numerous players the owner can make money on.
Well even the ones they have spent money on, Rusyn and Mayenda, really dragged on last year and at points looked like they had fallen through (like Mendy now as well), so they aren't even decisive on the strikers they do want and rather than getting them in early and letting them have a pre-season with us, they fanny about and make it harder for them to hit the ground running.Aye, but that's why you usually have to cough up. No club is going to let you have a goalscorer for next to nothing. It seems like we think we can unearth another Ross Stewart, but again, that was a stroke of luck over anything else as his figures before joining weren't great and he was playing his football on the wing.
The reluctance to spend on a decent striker can result in wasting money on an unproven one That to me is a bigger risk.
Who are you selling for less than that?Jesus Christ Ha’Way man be serious
This is the bit i struggle with the most. Surely it's so much more efficient to buy before we sell. The moment we sell a Clarke for £20m+, clubs will immediately add an extra few million onto their asking prices. We would do exactly the same if a club came for our players after just making a huge sale. I expected us to bring in a couple of players for £4m ish this summer knowing there would be a sale coming later on to cover it.this is where it all falls down, they need to decide what the plan is, if it is to develop and sell at a profit then we need cash in, IF we then reinvest back into the first 11 it would make sense.
The sticking point here seems to be the fact that a few are notionally valuing our squad in the hundereds of millions, yet we are still scratching round trying to bring in div 2 players.
Just seems to be unbalanced. It's also beyond stupid to sell a top player and then go into the transfer market, any side we deal wtih will hike up prices.
Basically speakman appears incapable of identifying and delivering a competent striker, ie one that understands how to consistently score goals.
