Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

We’re going to need to sign someone on loan who’s actually had a pre-season because at this rate it’s going to be October and about a quarter of the way through the season before Mendy is fully match fit
Aye, I think we can let it go on for another week at the latest in terms of trying to negotiate. If the valuation is still miles apart then we need to pull the plug. Even if Mendy arrived middle of this week, It's going to be mid-September before he's match fit, nevermind a bedding in process.

I've just had to go back to page 1 as forgot who the f... he is in truth.

He's 30 with supposedly Saudis sniffing . Ha, I thought he was a young kid.

This is not happening is it. Move on ffs

The only thing that makes me think this could still happen is that the player himself seems determined to come here.

Otherwise it has all the hallmarks of the ill fated Borini saga under Poyet.

They’ve definitely got to set a deadline on it mind because we need to have sufficient time to tie up a deal for an alternative player if Mendy seems impossible to do.

We need 2 strikers anyway so even if we dont get Mendy until the last minute, there is absolutely no excuse for not getting another one in , at some point in the last 2 month. Penny pinching incomptetence from Speaky

Ok, so they could agree a sale even though they can't make one and likely never would be able to ?

Well they should have been documented and the new owners should have been well aware, if they have been aware then they have moved the goalposts and morally not good!
Player will have the hump, it’s who blinks first now, Mendy is going to be no use to Caen now his head has been turned.

But on a real note, I know RLB was saying the striker we need is very specific and we want the forward to tick at least 80% of the boxes to be here. Looking at the description of big, powerful, able to press etc I think that is why this lad is our top target.

When you look into the threads highlighting his abilities etc he seems to be great at holding up the ball, pressing smartly, got some good movement and great technique for finishing. A proper focal point.

I still think he will end up here but it would be nice if we just got it wrapped up sooner

Exactly why are we not in for him.
We clearly rate him as we wanted him last year
I honestly don’t see us spending the kind of money it would need to buy him permanently. Stoke would also pay more in wages and it’s closer to London for a lad who said that was a major factor in his decision making last season.

As much as I’d like him I think Stansfield is a non starter for us
