Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Because like with all other things we have done recently, we dilly dallied. Agreed a fee and agreed wages but can only assume (and I don’t know the nitty gritty) no contracts were signed between us, the club, or the player.

Imagine if you bought a business and someone approached you and said they agreed to buy one of your best assets with the prior owner, you’d say “where’s the paperwork?”
Thanks, although I'm still having a hard time comprehending that. Did the takeover come out of the blue and happen overnight ? I've never known of one to happen that quickly. If wages and a fee are agreed the player is usually on his way within hours, yet there was still time for the club to undergo a full takeover before he got on a flight ? Unless we were stalling because we had someone else on the boil at the time that we prefered, It just doesn't make sense.

I'm not expecting you to know these answers like mate.

I have no idea, honestly.

I can’t understand how something can be agreed with one party and not seen through before the club changed hands, makes you think that everything was all verbal so the the original owners just pressed on with the takeover regardless.

Same thing happened with the manager situation, nothing is official until the ink is dry on the dotted line. Frustrating.

Like we did with Moore

Have we? We have made some excellent signings unfortunately the issues with the current squad have been ignored for far too long, maybe we should have took up the option to buy Styles
Never worked out covered a few positions cost us nowt sent him back try before you buy what do you expect him to pull out 20 million quid players for a million quid every single transfer window ? The issue with the current squad was more to do with injuries last season more than anything

Still, Maric to a degree, now Mendy.

I try not to criticise “the model” much as I have stated loads on this thread alone and I do agree with a lot of what they’re trying to do, but you can’t ignore these mistakes this window like.
I think it could be internal process . They struggle to get the expensive stuff done

Where have I said spend 20 million quid, again you are making stuff up. Look at what he spent the Stewart money on last summer if you want to see how to spend money we do have unwisely . So the reason now we struggled last season was because of injuries, how does that explain 4 strikers between them scoring 3 goals 🤷‍♂️

Nobody said spend 20 million you can’t expect us to keep pulling out signings like Clarke Ballardetc every window some are gonna flop

Issue is with Mayenda and whoever else we sign to play there, pointless anyone being there if we don't play to their strengths. For Mayenda, hes clearly the fastest in the squad (the lads all said him on that video) but yet we still insisted of play the ball into his feet and he got bullied by Chambers every time and then the one time he did get a through ball played him, he fluffed it. Good save or not, went with the wrong foot and was almost falling as he shot, I REALLY want him to do well, but much like Hemir & Rusyn - not good enough

Part of a centre forwards job, certainly in any progressive team is holding it, laying it off, playing people in even if they do it in a very simple manner. He needs to be stronger when receiving the ball, even if he doesn't want to play with his back to goal.

You can't just play forward balls all the time as generally there isn't the space to do so. We did manage to get him in a few times though and although you say he wants to get in behind there was one particular moment where he was on the edge of the box actually wanting the ball to feet and didn't anticipate the through ball from Browne into the area, which lost the ball and the opportunity.

Mayenda clearly likes running onto the ball and he's decent at it. But last season and now this, everytime I've seen it happen he's not looked comfortable and lost composure when it comes to getting the ball under control or shooting. It's probably why he's here and cost 850k as he needs a lot of work.

I am ìn the pro-manangement camp and think this is terrible planning. There appears to be an element of not being able to get important stuff over line which has not improved over the last 12 months.
As person who has ran teams you have to manage expectations and don't undermine your position within the organisation as you will start to lose respect with everyone. Rectifying previous mistakes allows you to maintain credibility throughout.
I wish Speakman and the "Ownership group" could understand that but I'm not so sure they would.

When someone is buying a business it’s goes through a period of due diligence, usually nothing can change in that timescale, so no purchases no sales etc, however this tends to be agreed with those purchasing and those selling in advance.
