Yes I know we enquired about Lankshear a couple of months ago and it looks like it may only happen now, but I’ve been very vocal on this thread in saying if the only striker we sign is a loan from the PL U21 league they can fuck off!

I thought he had a decent game overall me, tarnished by that miss that he absolutely should have buried.

He got at least 3 shots away so they definitely didn’t take the ball off him at will.

I don’t think he’d be getting the stick he’s getting if we had already signed another striker and he was just playing now and then, people are just hyper focused on him due to the lack of other options and I can understand that.

He was terrible got absolutely bullied and the shots he had didn't it one cleanly

Personally think the club have banked the full transfer window on selling Clarke early doors and with that not happening thats the reason no one has been bought for a fee which is utterly insane considering Clarke could be sold very late in the window.

Especially if he scores another couple of goals this month.

There is a big danger judging strikers from YouTube clips because even Altidore looked good in his. However, having watched the clips of Mendy, he does look like a proper forward capable of scoring goals. Disappointing if this deal is dead.

First shot : left foot effort from about 20 yards under little pressure which went horribly wide.
Second shot : left foot effort from edge of the box which was blocked.
Third shot : one on one chance which was scuffed under little pressure.

He can’t hold the ball up and consequently, in the second half especially, the ball kept coming back and we struggled to get the ball out of our half for long periods.

He’s young, promising but he’s nowhere near ready to start championship games for a club with alleged aspirations of the top 6.

I don’t think it’s ever been really on.

There’s obvious interest and the player seems keen to come but the selling club set the price which we can’t or aren’t prepared to match.

Until that changes it’s not happening.

I posted this last night. He couldn't get his feet sorted out and to open up his body. Hopefully that will come with experience but really, a lad of any previous coaching will have been told that on countless occasions. It's a basic.

Most of us would have been bent double throwing up in the centre circle. He certainly should have scored but it’s not exactly Grigg heading it off the line.
He hopefully won’t start too many because we’ll have better but he did enough to get minutes from the bench imo.

He was very weak in possession tbh and I appreciate he's 18/19 and its not really his game, but as a lone striker keeping the ball, playing with your back to goal, laying it off etc unfortunately it has got to be.

He's going to get in behind when you have space, but every single time I've seen him composure and touch tends to let him down in attacking situations.

I think he's certainly got something, but at 18/19 you can see why we got him for 850k as he needs a lot of work and I'm not sure he should be getting games at this level, but he's better than the others we have and so what do you do?

Nah its just us. We pay massive wages and signing on fees. You would think we'd have been in for Mbappe the way some were going on about what we have to pay for 'free' transfers for the likes of Browne and Poveda.
