Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Year after year i auto renewed. Decided last season wouldnt let them take the piss anymore. They dont spend so i'm not spending on them. Dont even want big money spent but we have an absolute knacker trying to tell us we dont need to play with a striker. As for KLD, the kid has never been right for us. Not in a donald methven way but in an out of depth way. Tbh got bored shitless watchin them and was constantly leaving early to go on lash. I've give up quite high loyalty points anarl. There is simply no ambition with these lot.
Exactly how I felt last season but I thought surely they learn from their mistakes and go get a few strikers and sort the issues out in the team, not a penny spent, No striker purchased for saturday and Jobe or Mayenda starts up top... sigh

The ambition thing is right. They're happy to tell everyone taht promotion is the target yet do little in terms of recruitment to make it tangible. As is often the case, their words speak louder than their actions.

I'm just reading that Boro (who already have forwards btw) are close to signing a lad from Man City for 3.5m and Conway from Bristol City for 5m. That's 8.5m on top of what they've already spent in this window. I ask how they can continually spend the types of money our Billionaire ownership group can only dream of.

Speakman finally spoke the truth when he slipped up and muttered the words "we'll plod on" and that's the top and bottom of it.

Just feels like another season of plodding

Not a cat in hells chance are we likely to be challenging for promotion this season.

The quality of the squad is about the same, I think we might be better set up and benefit from the experience of last season, but as things stand is there any reason to expect a dramatic improvement? Not for me. Top 10 finish would be the realistic goal.

Because they've sold players for canny money haven't they?

Just Pembele and Aouchiche. Or I guess just Rusyn to push it over the edge.

I don't think any of the income paid for mundle and Hjelde. I think that was very similar to the previous yesrs signings so was already budgeted in. Maybe a slight increase hut not a significant one

Between Rusyn, Mundle and Hjelde there's the neck end of 6m. That after having spent a fee ranging anywhere from 1.8m up to 3.5m or so on Jobe, 1.7m Seelt, Bishop, Dack, 850k Mayenda, 480k Hemir, 300k Triantis. No idea what Aouchiche or Pembele or Burstows loan cost - I think its a significant increase on what we spent the season before and almost certainly the Stewart fee resulted in the extra bodies.

We’ve spent lots of money which people seemingly refuse to acknowledge. By all means criticise the way the money that’s being spent but the constant accusations of penny pinching are wide of the mark.

Have they? Who have they sold this season for them to spend over 10m in this window? They spent a good amount of money last season when they sold Akpom, but looked to invest it wisely in a striker that scored goals, now they're adding to that.

We could sell Clarke and these wouldn't put double figure investment back into the side.
