Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Dan Neil has done a decent job but he's better further forward.

I see no reason why he couldn't be a 8-10 goal a season player.
His shooting from range is normally turd from my memory of last season

Dinked the keeper one on one for a belter of a goal one game so wouldn’t say his finishing is cack but he doesn’t pop up in the box much (lampard style) and blazes then high and wide from range (max power style)

Bold shout that mind, he’s done nothing to me to suggest he could be.

I’m not knocking him either, he’s a good player and could step up to a better team than us, but I just don’t think goalscoring is his game really.

Not sure about double figures, but before he got shunted to the back of midfield and told to hold, he had scored one or two and looked like it was something he was capable of doing.

Always thought him and Ekwah would have benefited massively from having a DCM behind them.

He will have to be our new striker and 3 yards from goal as that is the only way he will start hitting the target.

I think Neil is more of an engine, probably will never get many goals or assists, but will assist the assist, if that makes sense?

I rate him highly and think he can be at least a bottom half PL player, but just don’t think he will ever be looked at as a goalscoring threat, more of a driving force and creative threat.

4 goals and 5 assists last season from DCM, playing as a box to box midfielder or even number 10 and I'm sure he'd improve on those stats.

His role in the side now is dicating that and taking away from his side of the game where he was looking for the forward pass and getting into advanced positions. The lack of a DCM since Evans has meant he's the only one half capable, but I wouldn't say it's his most comfortable role neither.

I think he'd be better off if someone else had the role he's having to play. Both him and Ekwah are much better when they have a bit more freedom to express themselves. I think it's a waste of his talents for him to be the one that sits.

Agree one of Dans major flaws is his shooting from around the edge of the box. Shame because he gets himself into some really good positions.

He’s gone on a major charm offensive with the players this pre-season, to try to win back their affections. Gone super touchy-feely and showering them with praise and giving it the ‘best pals’ act, since they all came back. Which is bizarre, after how he went on in post-match press conferences last year, talking about ‘giving them the silent treatment.’ Also part of the ‘look how good I am’ act to win RLB over.

If he’s the Bellingham messiah of player development then give him a job in the academy, with the young’uns. He’s not got the personality you want as a number two in a team that’s aiming for the Premier League.
Plus he looks like a tramp
