Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Excuses, excuses and more excuses but at least you admit they have failed miserably over the last 12 months, what have they done so far recruitment wise this summer to dispel any doubts that this season will be any different, especially when there is only 8 days until we play Cardiff.
Actually be working on a deal for a striker that has scored 55 goals in the last 3 seasons haha. We didn’t see any of that the past two windows which is nice. Just gotta get it done.

Also think Browne is a really quality addition same as Poveda if his fitness stays okay

Honestly again all ifs and buts, like last season bring in 4 strikers which back fired massively and cost Mowbray his job. One signing last summer managed to be a first team regular and that was Jobe and he ended up playing as a striker for most games, can you still not see why posters have doubts, too many times we have fallen for Speakmans bullshit so excuse me if I reserve judgement on players we haven't signed.
All our transfer budget went on the stadium improvements
Then we are screwed if that is correct

Might I also add when we signed Stewart he had achieved fuck all, scored fuck all and was being played on the wing. We tried to replicate that and it didn’t work

He'd played various roles tbf, he'd scored goals and was wanted by Ipswich iirc but chose us.

We also had a striker at the time who had scored about 15 to 20 goals at that time, so we were speculating on someone we'd identified and he could be eased in whilst settling.

The last point there is absolutely key. It's absolutely vital when taking a chance on young players that you have enough experience and quality around them and give them a chance to adapt and settle and it's something we've not managed to do well enough.

We've gone out and got people with little or no experience and been left in situations where we're having to use them as we've got no one else. It doesn't take a genius to work out that bringing in the likes of Hemir and Mayenda at 19 and 18 from foreign leagues, having mostly played B football with no records to speak of that it may be a long term thing, if they ever develop at all.

It's going to be a busy end the window, surely we won't write-off the first few games waiting for a striker?

We are desperate for one, a blind man on a galloping horse can see it's a huge piece of the jigsaw.

And before anyone starts, I'm not saying roll over and spend millions, but there must be 1 or 2 strikers in the ENTIRE world that we could sign

Stewart was injured in Jan 2023. They signed 4 strikers the next summer. They got it wrong and failed. They then tried in a difficult Jan market and it didn’t come off (could have done better but that whole season was a shitshow)

Now it’s the summer and we will no doubt be trying and probably will imo get what we need. (I hope).

It’s been realistically just one big shit season last season I’m sure they should get a chance to rectify it from us. Or is that too much to ask?

Its still their job and they're failing at it.

If you went into work and made excuse after excuse and constantly came up short, you'd be gone.

There's 40,000 fans on a matchday wanting the club to do well and to cheer the team on and they, along with every fan outside the ground and around the world are being let down due to piss poor decisions from an inexperienced owner and a gobshite DoF who thinks he can do no wrong.

If you don't want to see it,and you want to stick up for their blatant inadequacies then fair enough, but the signs are there for everyone to see and you just can't expect others to not hold them accountable.

We wrote off half a season last year.

But lessons have been learnt....apparently.

Have the wait till the end of the window, slow market, looking at loans, ffp, sustainability, going bust excuses been trotted out yet?

Deals take time sometimes? If their main target is Mendy and we’ve seen it’s held up with the new investors wanting to talk to him and getting a fee agreed. Is it bad for us to stick it out trying to bring him in?
Our "deals" take much longer than anyone else's though all of the time. Nearly 6 months to appoint a no name coach. 2 months and counting to appoint his support team. 19 months and counting to appoint an acknowledged striker etc. etc.

Baffles me how anyone thinks we are going to sign 2 competent forwards it will be no doubt a last gasp loanee with little first team experience.

If you take Clarke’s goals out of the side from last season we would go down. It’s an utter disgrace a club of our size could go 2 years without signing a half decent centre forward.
Unless we unveil a striker tomorrow and they play against Marseille, there's already absolutely no chance of a new striker starting against Cardiff, it'll be Mayenda.
What a grim prospect more likely be Jobe up again which is shocking!

If they’re continually trying and failing then surely they should be replaced ?

It won't he's been told he's playing midfield and hasn't played up front this pre season

Continually being 2 windows? One a Jan window and one a summer window where they brought 4 in but they didn’t perform?

This is football, some signings work out and some don’t. You don’t see clubs sacking their DoF’s because of a few signings not working out.

They’ve got a month to get it done, and if they don’t get at least 1 competent centre forward with goals behind them then I’ll fully agree with all of you

Just reuse this one

Did his mam invent Tippex?
No, Mike Naismiths Mam invented it.

Also,

A man is in court tomorrow charged with tippexing all the fullstops in books at his local library

He's expecting a long sentence.
