Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

I was just reading we have now sold in excess of 33k season tickets.

The owner to have the remotest chance of making a profitable return on his investment needs the club to be promoted or he will continue to invest and lose money. I don’t see the business sense in settling for second best options whether that be the DOF, Head Coach, Assistants or our pursuit of players which in the case of the CF position which is beyond embarrassing now. The owner needs to raise the bar with the people around him, imho they aren’t good enough and this season if the squad isn’t significantly improved with CH, DCM player and two CF’s the supporters who I believe many are already hugely concerned, the Head Coach will be the fall guy and will be under massive pressure even before Christmas.
The exact reason the owner dosnt need to do anything. 40000 plodding along in the championship. Losing money my arse. Minimal personal outlay hes on a right little earner. The knacker will be rubbing his hands together.

Of course he’s losing money, 90% of championship clubs are. I don’t think his long term plan is to continue having to plug those gaps

Only real sticking point here is the fee. If reports are to be believed about what we've offered and what they want, then it looks to be too far apart if we're not willing to put some proper money down.

You can see why they'd be refuse to let their main striker who's scored 20+ goals for the last 3 seasons go for less than 1m fee. We'd find the offer insulting if it was the other way around.

If he's the one we really want why are we penny pinching and wasting time?

Mad isn’t it?

We all have our own views mate, football these days is sadly as much as a business as it is football.

KLD should have replaced both Dodds and Proctor at the end of the season. Listening to the pre and post match interviews with Dodds and watching the team under his coaching was abysmal,I don’t think they should be anywhere near the first team if we have any real ambitions this season.

Whilst it’s only pre season and watching every game the Coach doesn’t seem to have made much of an impact. It will be good to see how he sets the side up on Saturday. The point I made in an earlier post, I honestly don’t think any of those players who played against Bradford on Tuesday would get a move to another Championship side or maybe one or two at the very most. The squad remains lop sided and short of quality. We have the nucleus’s of 7 or 8 exceptionally good Championship players after that we are very short.

Cirkin and Hume who are two excellent full backs, for me the cover for them is a particular concern. Alesse and Huggins are both good players but both are injury prone. I think we have both said DCM player remains a priority (Browne best position is not that role) a CH and two CF’s might if the Coach proves to be a good choice we just may challenge for a play off spot.

Maybe he’s one we want but not enough at the price his current club want?

That said it’s laughable we’re at this point and still don’t have someone in.

what i cant get is ,you agree a fee player comes over for medical and look about.so somewhere down the line something has been agreed ,now new owner wants to see if he can keep the player there.so a simple yes or no if hes stopping or going so cant understand the holdup.

Yeah, i think when this was mentioned at the "talk-in" Speakmans answer was something along the lines "we want a striker, but it has to be the right one".

Now, we have stupidly interpreted that to mean "a good player who will pretty much guarantee goals".

The longer this drags on, it appears the correct interpretation is "a good players who guarantee goals but not cost any money".

We're fucked.

I don't totally get the disdain towards Dodd and Proctor. Yes, they're clearly not cut out for head coach roles, but that doesn't mean they're shuts coaches. Worked fine when Mowbray was Head Coach. All the noises from the players, is that they're liked as well. Absolutely, they shouldn't be in charge, but I don't see a huge problem then still being around the place coaching.
