Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Why do uninformed people criticise Speakman? We have had two other Directors of Football who got almost virtually no criticism.

Lee Congleton wasted tens of millions of the club’s money. For example bought Jack Rodwell for 12 million on a 5 year contract on huge wages. Robert Di Fanta also wasted tens of millions - look up his recruitment gems! Almost received no abuse from fans yet raped the club.

Speakman takes us from a very old, talentless squad with no asset value. He spends almost nothing and now we have emerging crop of young payers like Clarke, Ballard, Cirkin, Ekwah, Alese, Hume, and retained young talent like Patto, Rigg, Neil who are worth approx 100 million. He has also brought in people on loan likes Amad, Broadhead, Simms who the club couldn’t get over the line as permanent deals.

And yet he is criticised by people like you - with snide comments like he is an arrogant know-all and you’ve probably never met him. But yeah you just buy the negative garbage of people who know nothing about football and nothing about what is going on in the club - mostly people who have achieved nothing in life who feel more secure when they criticise people who have. Start thinking for yourself based on facts and not the opinion of fools!
What are the people that are criticising him uninformed of?

That fact he's in his 4th transfer window without signing a proven goalscorer or the fact he said Ian Beale had the best coaching techniques he'd ever seen?

Greggs isn’t in the debate, love Greggs but out of the 3 “fast food” chains mentioned KFC by far exceeds the other 2. McDonald’s is shite.

KFC is absolutely awful but the salt content makes you crave it, weirdly.

Burger King used to be nice and I liked the flavour but the buns fall apart.

Mcdonalds reliable but still feel utter shite after having one.

He's got a better resume then any of the other donkeys we've signed.

Just to check, you and other people aren't still seriously defending Speakman are you?
Some things I praise Speakman for, other things I criticise him for.

Like you, I think he can really help himself out by getting at least 1 forward who has a bit of a resumé. I don't think "proven" is a thing, plenty of them have had shite transfers, but we need someone who is good enough to start immediately.

Overall he's built a good squad for next to nowt, after inheriting an old, slow, shite squad.
Seems an unnecessarily pedantic jibe, he's clearly done more by far than any striker currently at the club.
No jibe, it was a question.

Have they signed more experienced / experienced championship players so far? Yes or no
We've signed a goalkeeper and a midfielder, neither of which were a critical role to fill.

Have we signed a striker?

🤣🤣

FFS I actually throught people were on a WUM when they were still trying to defend this.

I'm going to bed I can't be arsed with these people tonight.

2 more game last season that squad would have been back in league one.

I think it’s more the fact you’ve completely written it off as if we haven’t signed one this entire window when there’s a whole month of it left

And yet after 32 games we were 1 point off the playoffs, without a centre forward, with Cirkin, Alese and Roberts out injured.

We lost Clarke to injury (and later Dan Neil) and appointed Dodds and it went to shit. No defending the appointment, but I think the squad is still full of good players when they are well coached.

What? Both of them were and still are heavily criticised.
In fact- I have made numerous posts comparing Speakman with the pair of them- often favourably- often pointing out that their lack of experience with professional football is likely the reason for a lot of poor decisions (Di Fanti appears mainly.interested in employing his clients)

It's also important to recognise that it is perfectly legitimate to criticise the professional performance of somebody in a public role (he gives interviews etc.) without knowing them personally.

Maybe the last 3 transfer windows have sorted of dampened my expectations.

Yeah let's not bother then.

People can't be this f***ing blind man.

yes i used the word striker as its often used..as a general, or imprecise term for a player that plas in the firward positions...if i had said: "we have spent millions on centre forwards" that wouldnt be true..because thats a very soecific position and SAFC dont have a player in those positions

FWIW I'm onside with your pedantry.

However, my take is that we did try to sign someone to play that role. Hemir being the CF, Rusyn our more mobile striker.

I can’t really reach a proper conclusion hence me saying I wonder, but I have suspicions that if Clarke had scored 7 and someone playing down the middle scored 8 things would be a little calmer
Of course they would.

But as it stands, the three "first team" strikers on our books managed two goals between them.

Even before the Clarke injury, performance levels has dropped and playing style had regressed. Clarke had been carrying us for a while. Especially around the Christmas period.

Three different head coaches failed to get a decent tune out of this squad last season so it's a big claim to still have confidence that they are good if well coached.

It's also massively clutching at straws to mention Dan Neil's injury when he only missed the final three games of the season.
