Blinded by the Kits ?

It's more or less the youth team man ffs
The 11 that started last night certainly aren’t part of the youth team. They’re all part of our first team squad that we will have to rely on throughout the season.

It’s partly where we are going wrong tbh. A lot of them would still be in the academies of other teams in our division that are going for the top 6.

This is also a squad that suits attacking football that helped us get 6th in 22/23. Beale and Dodds' tactics didn't utilise that it's no wonder we didn't perform well. RLB's tactics are very attacking and it should utilise a lot of this squad's strengths. Alan Browne is a great addition to the midfield also he makes that midfield 3 very good
So just skip past answering the question, well played.
It’s all forgotten because it was last season but everyone involved are the same apart from the new head coach and a few players, all of which have a lot to prove and I’m far from convinced will have an impact, but ppl seem to have blind faith and are easily pleased with a new strip
Can't disagree, well said.

we will get a LOAN striker in from one of the Prem clubs....one of the youngsters , as we did with Burstow.....these loan deals dont usually happen till the end of the deadline where Prem clubs decide their squads

The squad last season was not the same squad which finished 6th because that squad had 2 strikers for half the season, Amad who was arguably the best player in the league and Clarke had the freedom to actually play because he had some quality around him.

The issues with last season wasn't the manager, Pep Guardiola couldn't get anything out of a team where your attacking trio is Hemir, Ba and Mundle for a period of the season.

Jobe was our best striker last season by a country mile and it's not even his position. There's been 4 managers now who says the squad isn't good enough, maybe just maybe the squad isn't good enough....

I'm not slating the club, I'd do exactly the same but the pre season dates were announced months ago aswell. They'll know what they're doing. Same as the manager, I wouldn't be surprised if they set the dead line to be then for that reason.

Anyone with sense, from the business side, would do the same. Money wise, releasing it before Father's Day would probably make sense though if I had to pick a date but they sold out anyway so it's not really the end of the world.

It's the people who have the mentality of, well the club released a nice shirt, give them a chance to sign some players who I think are the idiots.
 That's a mentality that's been invented.

Aye plus mendy who we're after. So we'll have plenty of strikers on the books.... question is is any of them any good!

I fancy mayenda to come through this season aswell. Also think poveda and browne will be astute additions. Need another good centre back next as ballard and onien are the only 2 worth playing in the league.

Well done and well said.

Well I never!!
All these years later I find I was almost right 😂
Thank you 👍🏼
It was funny you mentioned it as I only just read about it last night after looking it up after I posted. I was wondering how come they'd changed cut loose to revved up, and then I read about the douche thing that I'd never heard before.

The squad that got us to 6th had Stewart, Simms, Amad, Evans, Gooch and Baath in it.

Who have we replaced them with?

Aye the kits are class.

But a week and a half away from the season starting and we haven’t addressed the single biggest weakness.

A weakness we’ve had since Stewart went off injured at Fulham and Simms was recalled by Everton.
I remember feeling really disappointed at the time re Simms leaving, I was sitting on the beach at the time. I think his presence and value was totally underestimated

Have we been?

We ain’t playing great stuff.

I personally don’t think we have strengthened the key positions needed.

Blame the commentators for this wobble mind, reminding me ten 10 days away from season start.

Still , Cracking Kits tho.

Shirt would look brilliant with a real striker wearing it.

It’s a gimmick of the likes of Charlie and Stuart Donald would pull.

Get the simpletons onside and they will be watching the right hand and won’t have a clue what the lefts doing
Very similar trick to changing the pink seats.
I see no connection between kits and the team or think of some kind of Arthur Daly scheme
Marketing people tasked with generating revenue and improving off field goings on . Kit was a masterstroke . Canny chunk of those buyers won't be game goers
Football totally separate and open to 1000s of opinions
It says a lot when every positive thing they do is seen as some kind of ploy by people who need to stay on negative mode .
I'd rather give credit where its due and see how the football looks when we get going

Squad isn't crying out for a DM if we don't play a style that needs and out and out one. Neil is being used in the 6 for the style we want to play. We need the 6 to be able to help attack aswell as defend, Neil suits that.

We are actively trying for strikers hence the mendy deal.

Not all of our business is publicised either
Name me another team that doesn’t use a defensive midfielder?

It’s the excuse we use not to sign one man.

Also the same shite got spouted about a striker. Our style doesn’t require one. Only team in the world that doesn’t use a striker 😂😂😂😂

Fook all wrong with the pitch the floodlights and i wasnt particulary bothered about the sound system. An operational club shop should be the absolute minimal requirement as should maintaining a F@@kin football stadium to have running water and a water tight roof. They make it out as if they are doing 40000 crowds a favour. They spend next to nowt on players always on the cheap. These are so far out tha depth it is scary. Having the best stadium in league 1 is not something that would fill me with pride. This manager and our better players are being hung out to dry by an arrogant tosser and a piss poor owner.
It was the best stadium in the 2nd tier 20 years ago. It’s no better than any that have been built since - just a bit bigger. Means nothing apart from making us look like a scalp when we get turned over at home.

Just had a look down all our players, if you take every player that is here now including the 3 weve just signed but not including the young'ns who are stepping up the likes of Zak Johnson, Tom Watson etc. we have 29 1st team players on our books. 2 goalkeepers, 11 defenders, 13 midfielders and 3 forwards. For an sustainable model, this is the most unsustainable way of trying to achieve your goal. Bizzare recruitment really

Its as scattergun as di fanti and most other previous shite setups. Too busy worrying about numbers for positions than actual quality that can have an impact.

Any 'potential' needed loaning last season and this but due to not having proper players to cover they had to play at a level they werent capable of all the whilst our nucleus of top end championship 1st team slowly erodes. Its a baffling strategy and very risky to complete implosion. I genuinely dont think they are good enough to run a pro club
